Dear Kathleen Mae: With respect to the 1900 and 1910 census records, the firs showing Mary Etta as the mother of 4 children, none living, and the latter indicating none born, noon living: In the instructions to enumerators in both years, they were told NOT to count stillbirths when listing the number of children born. Quite often, however, the enumerator would simple ask "how many children have you had" and write down the number without mentioning that stillbirths were not to be counted. Thus, I would suggest that Mary Etta had four children born dead and only those four. Richard
