"Buck" Coats, 76, of Lincoln, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 1969, at the Veteran's Hospital at Danville. The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1969 at Holland and Barry Funeral Home and burial was in Carlyle Cemetery near Lake Fork. The deceased was born Nov. 18, 1892, at Lake Fork, a son of Charles and Lydia Manley Coats. He married Martha Miller Aug., 1919, at Springfield. Surviving are his wife; a son, Paul, Springfield; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Tague, Lincoln; a brother, Jim, of Lake Fork; and six grandchildren. Mr. Coats was a retired Illinois Central Railroad conductor, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion and World War One Barracks. Mr. Coats was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister, and two brothers.
