    3. Is Lawndale part of Lincoln? If not, was it ever? My GG Grandfather, William Howard Reynolds (1852-1925) resided in Lincoln, Logan County, Illinois from at least 1910 until his death in 1925. His address is listed as 210 Jefferson St., Lincoln, IL. When I look this address up on MapQuest.com, a map is displayed of Lawndale, IL, half way between Atlanta and Lincoln at the intersection of I-55 (Route 66) and Kickapoo Creek. Can anyone fill me in on the history of Lawndale? Your help is greatly appreciated. 3. Lawndale is an old village, perhaps 4-5 miles northeast of Lincoln, but it may now have its mail routes out of the Lincoln Post Office. It is alongside I-55 and the main rail line between Chicago and St. Louis. It now has a grain elevator, a small collection of houses, and may have a karaoke bar. It was laid out in 1854, according to the 1982 History of Logan County, and then had a population of about 200. It does have a Jefferson Street, which your MapQuest picked up. My Google Earth search came up with the same thing. However, My Microsoft Streets and Maps identifies a second Jefferson Street in the county seat of Lincoln. This Jefferson Street runs north and south across 5th Street, about 5 blocks east of Business I-55, also known as the Lincoln Parkway. I have driven on it. I would guess that your ancestor was located along this second Jefferson Street, as the Postville Courthouse monument is in the immediate area, and was the Logan County seat prior to the actual founding of Lincoln in 1853.
