Hi, Below I have pasted some news transcriptions from the Wayne County Press of Wayne Co. IL. Does anyone on the list have any information on any of these people? I am at a dead end with James A. Burroughs and am grasping at straws with this email. I do have information on his siblings and ancestors if anyone is interested. Thanks, Lois Branch The Wayne County Press 27 Feb 1896 James A. Burroughs writes from Elkhart: I send my congratulations to all Wayne county friends, especially to Clara Jelly and Mr. Flaharty, who I see were recently married. Mrs. Alice Walker writes from Elkhart: We came here from Wayne county nine years ago. My husband is farming and raising a few hogs for the market; we are doing very well. Jas. A. Burroughs is living with us at present, so we get to read his Press, which is like a letter from home. Mrs. Mary Beck, my mother, and two brothers, Sol and Sherman, are running a barber shop, and doing well. Our family consist of five children three girls and two boys; all are going to school. Our oldest is a girl of seventeen. The Wayne County Press 31 Dec 1896 Mrs. Cynthia Burroughs, of LaMard, was a caller on Tuesday for the purpose of renewing her subscription. She was accompanied by her son, J. A. Burroughs, who recently returned from Elkhart, where he has been located for about three years. He will remain here for several months, and will spend the time putting his mother’s farm in repair. Wayne County Record Thursday, February 14, 1918 James Burroughs and son Edward, of Elkhart are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Boze and other relatives and friends.
