Judy Simpson, the acting CC of DeWitt County, sent this which she ran across researching something else: Jean Pyle had mentioned these stones being moved before by she didn't have the exact date or any names. Clinton Register DeWitt County, Illinois Friday, October 25, 1889 During the past week eleven bodies have been moved from the old Downey cemetery to the Atlanta cemetery. Among the number was that of Andrew Downey, who was buried twenty-three years ago. The outside cover was removed from the metallic casket and it was found that the body was in a remarkable state of preservation, the face being as natural as when buried.

    3. I don't know. Often when they did those moves they put all the stones together in an area [which seems logical - also, generally they just moved the stones back then]. I know there are books relating to Atlanta Cemetery but I don't have one. If someone who does is on this list perhaps they would check and if so provide us with a list.
