Due to increasing costs and the number of volunteers we have available, The Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society have made some necessary changes to our research rates and policies. We no longer do research requested through e-mail. All research requests must be received by regular mail and include a check made out to LCGHS. We are all volunteers, so research money goes to the Society to help meet expenses, and to expand our research materials. To request research: Include your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, as well as research information you are wanting. When writing your research list, keep in mind the number of hours you write the check for. We can no longer accept requests that state “bill me later.” We have had too many instances of someone telling us this, and we trusted them. They got their material, and we never heard from them again. Write as much information as you can about the people you are researching. This saves us from “re-finding” information and we can better utilize the time trying to locate new information. Attach a check for the number of hours you want us to research - $20 ($15 for members) per hour, times number of hours. Copies – 25 cents a sheet –15 cents for members – (from materials on our shelves.) Documents from the courthouse - amount we must pay, plus $2 for the Society. Search land records - $10 additional per hour plus the cost of copies. Obituaries from Lincoln City library - $1 per obit. If we have to find dates before we can look up an obit, it is $5 per obit. Obits we have at the Center; 25 cents - 15 cents for members. (If you need very much research, an annual membership might save you some money.)
