Hello. I'm new to this list. Does anyone know if a marriage certificate from 1873 would be available at the county clerk's office? I'm thinking about sending away for a copy of a marriage that took place on Jan. 1, 1873 in Middletown, Logan Co., IL, between William Morrow SILVER and Mary Ann ROACH WEAVER. I just don't know if they would have records back that far. I'd appreciate any info. on this matter. Thanks. Beth BSmith7439@aol.com
ANOTHER drum roll. Up now a listing for Edgell-Barnes Cemetery east of Middletown prepared by Garland Edgell. A big thanks to Garland! >From main page click on cemeteries. The link is at the bottom of the cemeteries list. That is the logical place but, to my mind, there might be a better place. Any ideas? If we get a couple more cemeteries I can do a cemetery listing page and I think that would be perfect. In the meantime, check out Garland's work. On the main web site there is a link to the lookups page where you will find a very nice lady who will look up names in the cemetery books. She has them all for Logan County. If there is anyone on this list who can do 2 obituary lookups for me I would be very happy to pay any expenses involved. Both of my grandparents died in Logan Co. and are buried in Union Cemetery. One died in 1900 and the other in 1911. Please e-mail me privately. Thank you. Marge Farmer
I think a time line would be nice. You could also add things to it like if they had a flood, if they had a flu epidemic, if they had a bad fire. Anything that might clue someone in on where records went or why people might have disappeared. Drum roll please.... Marge Farmer has transcribed the list of settlers in Logan County by 1840 from the 1878 History of Logan County AND the list of county officers 1839-1878 from the same source for us. Thank you Marge! Those lists are now on the web site. The links are in the list on the main page. I sorted them alphabetically so you can find your ancestors easier. I will put the complete citation on the pages later but I didn't want to wait to get it up. I am always looking for volunteers to do similiar projects so if you are up to it please let me know. Here's a web page to check out for that. He has a lot of CDs, not sure about that one. http://netdirect.net/~damonf/cencd.htm Hint: this guy wants you to state your request according to his rules, no chit chat, etc. He will send you a copy of what he finds, no chit chat, specials, deviations, etc. Very military. Here's another free database, free just for this week: Bibliography: "Genealogical Library Master Catalog." Orem, UT: Ancestry, Inc., 1999. To search this database, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search/3622.htm Be prepared for a long list of works using your surname or with an author of that surname. Some works are listed over and over because there is a listing for each LIBRARY which has a copy. Still, it is an interesting list. Hi, Does anyone know if there is an index to the 1870 Logan County census? If so, could you tell me where to buy it or do a lookup for Samuel M. Shields? Thanks for the help. Shaunee Power

The Lincoln Courier, Courier Bldg, Lincoln, IL. 217 732-2101. Copies of those papers [microfilm] are in the Lincoln Public Library. It is possible that the obit would have been printed in the Bloomington Pantagraph and/or the Springfield Journal [not sure the exact name these days].
