    1. [ILLOGAN-L] HICKEY -farmer - SCULLY
    2. Sharon Thomas
    3. Hi, I just found out some more information about the John and Mary HICKEY that I am looking for in Illinois. My John HICKEY was supposed to be one of the first farmers for SCULLY in Illinois. There is supposed to be a book about the history of Logan county, that I am not sure if it is still available - that lists my John HICKEY in it. If anyone is able to connect or tell me how to get this book, I would greatly appreciate it. Sharon

    1. [ILLOGAN-L] WEBB and related families
    2. I am interested in the WEBB family that lived in Logan Co. Ill from about 1848 to about 1854. This family was originally from Clark Co. Ky. I found Samuel Webb (my great great grandfather) living with his wife Rebecca, daughter Julia, father Isaiah, and brother Richard in the 1850 census living in Logan Co. Nearby is his brother George and wife Susane, along with brother James. I cannot locate a number of other family members. Isaiah's wife Martha, and five other children are nowhere to be found. The two older girls were probably married by this time (Sally Ann to George Pearson NOBEL and Louisa J. to David COX) but John H., Augustine M., and Caroline "Carrie" WEBB would have been 12,10, and 8 years of age. I know Samuel's wife Rebecca died before he left KY for MO. Family oral history is that she died in some sort of an accident. I don't know if Isaiah died in IL or if he went back to KY. DAR records indicate he died in Clark Co. KY but it wouldn't be the first error I've found. One of the "missing" children, John H. ends up in MO along with Samuel years later. He is said to have married about 1870/71 in Lincoln, Logan Co. IL to a Mary. I don't find any record of her in MO. I would like to hear from anyone having information on this family. Thank-you Kathleen

Lacinda ---------- From: PBord1950@aol.com To: ILLOGAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILLOGAN-L] Feeble Minded Institute Date: Friday, February 12, 1999 8:40 PM The original name was Illinois Asylum for Feeble Minded Children. It was later changed to Lincoln State School and Colony. Still later was changed to Lincoln Developmental Center. It was originally supposed to be a residential training facility for the mentally retarded, but there were people placed there that didn't necessarily meet that criteria. I can remember growing up seeing the State School band marching in every local parade. They were actually pretty good. ==== ILLOGAN Mailing List ==== Logan County is on roll 116 of the 1850 Census.

    3. I wish I had more information, but I don't. What I've gathered has all come from working backward. I just thought perhaps you'd have mention of Lucy Athey his wife. From the 1910 census, I know Edward Copeland's father was born in Indiana, and his mother in Pennsylvania. I'll keep at it and if I can come up with any other information I'll check back with you. 3. Good morning: I thought their hours a little strange too - was there 2 yrs. ago and had to wait until 1:00 to get in - and in Atlanta, where do you go to kill time - walk through the cemetery - actually that is how I found my g.g.grandparents graves; and then had lunch at the resturant on the same side of town to pass the time. This was in August.
