    1. [ILLOGAN-L] CAPPS and ROACH
    2. Hello. I'm new to this list. I have been researching my gggrandmother, Mary Ann ROACH, born 7/2/1844 in New York City. She may have been an orphan. She settled in Lincoln Twp., Logan Co. sometime before 1860. I found her on the census lin 1860, living with a CAPP family. Here's the info.: Logan Co., Lincoln Twp., p. 190 Capp, G.W., IL Martha, 29, KY Zepemiah?, 6,IL George N., 5, IL Roach, Mary, 16, NY Kellin, John, 14, NY I don't know who this family was. Perhaps she was adopted, or she could have been working for them. Mary Ann ROACH married Noah WEAVER in the early 1860's, probably in Logan Co.. They had two children: Alice and Noah WEAVER. Noah, Sr. died, and Mary Ann married William Morrow SILVERs in 1873. Does anybody recognize either the ROACH or CAPP names? I noticed that there were CAPPs among the early settlers of Logan Co. Please let me know if you recognize either family and/or have any idea of Mary Ann's relationship to the CAPPs. Thanks. Beth BSmith7439@aol.com

    1. [ILLOGAN-L] Need Cheryl's help!
    2. Cheryl ~ after a year of beating my head into that famous "brick wall", I'm asking for any ideas/suggestion you and anyone else may have. It seems that no one else is researching the HEUSTON/HOUSTON/HUSTON lines in IL, or anywhere else, for that matter! My ggrandfather Jerome DeWitt HEUSTON was born 1863, Kickapoo Creek, Logan Co, IL. Believe that to be near Atlanta. One of his older brothers MAY have also been born in Logan County; that would have been either Theodore or Ebenizer. His father was William Heuston/Houston m. Almyra HATCH BARBER. Jerome believed his father was prob. born in IN; Almyra was born Greene County, OH and had a son from a previous marriage "P" (we think) Hartselle BARBER. By 1870 the family was in Greenwood County, KS. Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions. Sherre

    2. I'd take a closer look at the Hartsburg & Emden area of Logan county as the Krusemark & Gross surnames was common in that area. These names are still there today.

    2. I believe the poor farm had its own cemetery -- think that's County Home. They don't have stones marking the graves AFAIK. Did you post a query? Can't hurt. 1. [ILLOGAN-L] Logan County Poor Farm and SCHULTZ/KRUSEMARK
    2. Jennie Smith
    3. Hello everyone, I am new to this list and wonder if anybody has any information about the Logan County Poor Farm (in West Lincoln). I would especially like to know where the records are kept. I have called the county courthouse and was told by the clerk that all they had were the plans for the building and she had no idea of where the records are. Does anyone have a clue? I have an August SCHULTZ (or Shultz) who was living there in 1920. He was born about 1850. His wife Marie C. Burgdam (or Bouchton) died in 12-1917. I am especially interested in learning when August died and where he is buried. Did the poor farm have it's own burial ground? (He is not the August Shultz who died in 2-1923 and is buried with his wife Mary in Kline Cemetery - I already made that mistake!) August and Marie had 3 children: Johanna Friedericke (1873-1903). She married August KRUSEMARK. Albert Frederick (b1879) He married Florence C. Gross Herman (b 1881) He married ??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Cindy, in Arizona

    3. Sorry about posting the info on the Musick family to the list. I did not know you didn't allow to post bios. Other lists encourage those kind of postings for families that have several researchers working on them. It will not happen again. Penny -

    2. I forgot about Ancestry.com. They have some web space for family names and such at their myfamily.com. It is private, not open to the general public, though. This is not an endorsement, just a comment on what might be available... 1. Re: [ILLOGAN-L] SMASEY,BREWER,VANCE,MUSICK
    2. I have Musick ancestors in Logan County, IL. Robert Musick was one of the two original settlers. He is my 5th great grandfather and there is quite a bit about him in the history of Logan County. I am descended from his daughter, Esther Allen Musick Ewing Hawes. Let me know if this is close to your line. Smasey, Brewer, and Vance don't sound familiar to me. You can see my Musick line on Ancestry.com. Simply do a global search for Esther Musick, when the options come up, go to World Tree, then scroll to Esther Allen Musick born Gibson Co., IN, with parents Robert Musick and Sarah Roach. It's a great web-site. I had a week free (only World Tree part is free and Social Security Death Index) when I submitted my database and found things I never dreamed I could find. They have many marriage records from counties, census indexes, land records, but these are the things you have to pay for (about $19.95 for three months). Thanks, Sue A. Ridenhour.
