    3. The Logan County Historical Society sent me a copy of a page out of a 1982 Logan County History Book about the BEAVER family. You had asked us a few months ago if we were interested in purchasing one of the Logan County history books if they would consider another publication. Which one was that? 2. No, I wasn't asking you to do lookups, just wondered about the book. If a person were doing research they'd probably prefer an indexed book so they don't waste a lot of time. It is interesting that some are indexed and some aren't, no reason one way or the other that I can tell. Anyway, I'm just mulling over making a resource list -- if I ever get through the projects I'm working on now. <g> Cheryl Rothwell clrothwell@mindspring.com

    3. Cheryl - The Biographical Record 1901 is indexed. However, my copy is an original and the index has been torn and is missing some of the T's and page numbers on some of the S's. The Bios are not in alphebetical order. The only thing that makes lookups difficult is the state of repair my book is in. The covers and pages are loose and some of the pages are out of order. However, I'll be glad to so look ups, if that's the question. 3. Mary Ann -- My great-great-great grandfather is said to be buried in Lake Bank Cemetery -- could you look him up? His name is Samuel KERWOOD; he died in 1871. I'd also be very interested to know if there are any other KERWOODS in there. Samuel's daughter, Frances Rebecca (Kerwood) CLARK, is supposedly there, too -- she died in 1913 according to my notes. Thank you very much for your help. ===== Valorie Anlage Genealogist Researching: 8810 Herons Flight CORMICAN, KERWOOD, HARPER,and HANKS Laurel, MD 20723 -- including possible connections USA to Abe Lincoln and Choctaw Indians valanlage@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. Everyone should mark their calendars next month. (if some do not think this is genealogicallly related, I'll explain after the message) It will be the Last Lunar Harrah of the Millinneum: This year will be the first full moon to occur on the winter solstice, Dec. 22, commonly called the first day of winter. Since a full moon on the winter solstice occured in conjunction with a lunar perigee (point in the moon's orbit that is closest to Earth) The moon will appear about 14% larger than it does at apogee (the point in it's elliptical orbit that is farthest from the Earth) since the Earth is also several million miles closer to the sun at this time of the year than in the summer, sunlight striking the moon is about 7% stronger making it brighter. Also, this will be the closest perigee of the Moon of the year since the moon's orbit is constantly deforming. If the weather is clear and there is a snow cover where you live, it is believed that even car headlights will be superflous. On December 21st. 1866 the Lakota Sioux took advantage of this combination of occurances and staged a devestating retaliatory ambush on soldiers in the Wyoming Territory. ::::::::In lamens terms it will be a super bright full moon, much more than the usual AND it hasn't happened this way for 133 years! Our ancestors 133 years ago saw this. Our descendents 100 or so years from now will see this again. I'm excited, hope someone else might find this interesting! Remember this will happen December 22, 1999..... Just thought this would be interesting, now if I can remember the date. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. [ILLOGAN] FamilySearch GEDCOM Problems
    2. This tidbit from Dick Eastman's online genealogy newsletter, current issue, explains why that GEDCOM you downloaded from the LDS site doesn't work: FamilySearch GEDCOM File Fixer Nick J Hunter of SpanSoft reports that: The latest enhancement to the LDS FamilySearch Web site (at http://www.familysearch.org) allows you to download the results of your search in a GEDCOM file. Unfortunately the LDS has made a mistake in the way that these GEDCOM files are generated, which means that they are not imported correctly into many genealogy programs including Kith and Kin Pro. We have contacted the LDS to point this out to them but it may be a while before they fix the problem. In the meantime we have made a utility available which fixes these GEDCOM files. It is available to anybody (freeware) from our Web site at http://www.spansoft.org. Windows 95 or 98 is required. I have not verified the problem that Nick Hunter reported. However, if you download a GEDCOM file from http://www.familysearch.org and then have problems trying to import it into your favorite genealogy program, you might check out the File Fixer to see if it corrects the problem. You can contact Nick J Hunter at: SpanSoft@compuserve.com Cheryl Rothwell clrothwell@mindspring.com
