Perhaps you could ask someone with the cemetery books to see if they can locate a Linscott buried in Logan County. I believe there are several people on this list who have them and there is a person on the Logan County ILGenWeb Lookup page who has them. I don't know if they are here or on vacation at the moment. I have three but I am in the process of moving and they are packed. I'm confused. I don't see the word LOGAN anywhere in your message. What connection is there to Logan County? It would help if you would provide that information. Hi, The Logan County Library has a book listing people buried in Union Cemetery. I phoned the librarian at one time and she was kind enough to make me a copy of my family buried there. You might give it a try. Lois Branch http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/b/r/a/James-E-Branch/
Thank you I will do that. I also plan on going out there next month August to look around. My father lives in Iroquois County so I am going to visit him then to Peoria County and Marshall and Logan just to see the area. Thanks again good luck on your move. Cheryl, I apologize. I meant to put in the posting, I heard that there were a couple of LINSCOTT members buried there. I have not been able to find any information on any LINSCOTTs buried there. It was not a common last name in the late 1800s and early 1900s in Illinois at all. I haven't tried this to see if it works all the time. I'm told it does. If you try it repeatedly and it always works let us know. You need to know the date of death and the age at death, two pieces of information often found on old tombstones. 1. Write the death year, month, day as: -----------> 18890506 2. Subtract the age at death: ----------------> 710709 3. This gives the figure: ------------------------> 18179797 4. Now subtract 8870: --------------------------> 8870 5. The result is: -----------------------------------> 18170927 Year 1817, 9th month (Sept), 27th day or 27 Sept, 1817 --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hello all. I noticed that there have been some questions about cemeteries in Sangamon County in recent postings on the Sangamon List Group and figured other counties might also be interested in this information. The Sangamon County Genealogical Society has transcriptions for all but two of the townships in Sangamon County. If you go to the publication list, you will see that we have been quite busy for the past thirty plus years putting these publications together. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilsangam/scgs/scgs-pub.htm The two remaining townships are Cartwright and Clear Lake. We do have some of the cemeteries transcribed but are working to complete the township transcriptions as soon as possible. If you would be interested in going out to a cemetery to learn how to transcribe, please contact me at [email protected] I would also like to take this opportunity to let every on the list know that we are also taking appointments to research at our office library 2856 South 11th Street on Wednesday nights. Please contact me at the email address above for more details. We will also be having our 10th Annual White Elephant/Book Sale on Saturday, June 12 from 9am to 2pm. We hope to see you at the sale. Squire, Jr. was 38 y/o in the 1920 census with IL as place of birth. His brother (couldn't read the name) was 36 y/o in the 1920 census with MO as place of birth. This tells me the date they moved is probably 1882-1884. Hope this helps a little. Bill Detmers
Squire Branstuder was living in Illinois in 1880 with his wife Margaret and sons Phillip and James (who was 1 year old at the time). James eventually married my great-grandmother in Missouri.
