    3. ...from La Salle County Lore page 276 Dunkard Church Just east of Streator, on E 19 Road, a Dunkard church stood. According to the 1886 county history, "a neat little parsonage" stood next to it. (I don't have the 1886 La Salle County History. Maybe someone out there can fill in the blanks. Joanie) page 277 Phantom Buildings You need to imagine the way N 17 Road in the north of the township used to be. Not far east of Wolf Creek was a United Brethren Church in the old days, established in 1868..... A little farther east on N 17 Road member of the Hopewell Methodist Church built their place of worship. page 277 Country Church Farther south a United Brethren Church was established shortly after the church of the same denomination in the north of Otter Creek Township. At first this group, called the "Otterbein Chapel," held services in a nearby school and later they built the church on land donated by a Mr. Engel. Things ran smoothly for many years until, following a dispute, church elders opted for a change of location. They moved the building west to the village of Kernan in 1895. After a number of years the build ws sold to the Kernan Boosters organization for use as a community hall. Many school graduations and community social functions were held in the building until the spring of 1931 when it was completely gutted by fire.... Joanie
