Yes, We believed both were born in Ohio, but on Williams Civil war papers it says he was born in New York. There were no parents names in civil war packet or on their marriage license (just that they were over 18) Thank you Marti
I then lucked out on my Civil War Records - I even received a photograph of Jacob Carmean! Try the Ohio records on line - you won't believe the amount of information available there. I would suggest you do a search using google http://www.google.com for your Ohio Search. What outfit did he serve with in the Civil War? It should say where he mustered out of as well.
