hi, The GOUGE name is in the long list of Livingston County surnames of families in my family tree as my father's first cousin, Evelyn (Tope) Elizabeth CARTER md Garnold RIGSBY and Chloe Kay RIGSBY was her neice. Chloe Kay RIGSBY (b in Fairbury aft 1920) md a GOUGE and was living in Rantoul, IL, in May of this year. Chloe is the daughter of Gilbert C RIGSBY & Ada BUTTON and the sister of James Hartzell RIGSBY, per the 17May2001 obit of James which was published in the Bloomington Pantagraph (i didn't copy the obit, just extracted this info from it). Possibly someone on this list knows how you can go about contacting Mary Francis GLENNON, the widow of James RIGSBY? My 1985 phone listing for her is Hartzel RIGSBY 206 E Ash, Fairbury...815-692-2871...Mary in turn may know of how her son-in-law Mr GOUGE fits into your family tree. In searching my collection of old phone directories the only listing that popped up was John GOUGE RR 1 Fairbury....815-692-2998 from a 1985 listing. Other areas searched with no results (from the early 80's) were Champaign, Ford and McLean Counties. You might find some clues on my web page at Livingston County, Illinois, Genealogical Research Lastly i recall the name GOUGE from over forty years ago and think Joe was his first name... think he lived or farmed south of Fairbury near a bridge that washed out in the early 80's, possibly on the road the passes the old Spence homestead that had a large boulder in the front yard commemorating the first white girl born in Livingston County... yet my memory may not be correct on this. happy hunting dennis in reply to: In a message dated 9/24/01 3:03:24 PM Pacific Daylight Time, ILLIVING-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: << X-Message: #3 Date: Mon, 24 Sep 2001 10:35:43 -0500 From: "John & Carolyn Carson" <jcarson@indy.tds.net> To: ILLIVING-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <001b01c1450e$93a4e300$7233abd0@carson> Subject: [ILLIVING] Carson and Gouge Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Is anyone else out there researching the families of James R. Carson, Henry Clay Carson, and William Gouge. William Gouge moved to Livingston County from Tennessee in the 1890's and married Mary Hance Carson, widow of Henry Clay Carson. I would love to exchange information with anyone else researching these families. Carolyn >>
