    3. Hi--I'll step in here if you don't mind! :-) My family has Puffer in-laws: Alice Leona PEARSON, my grandmother's oldest sister, married Samuel R. PUFFER [1858-1929] 15 March 1881 at Chatsworth, IL. Her obit follows. It mentions Puffers who came from out of town [Chatsworth] at the end so you might know some of them? I have Samuel and Alice's marriage record which lists his parents as Sally Baker Belden and [note the penmanship is poor so I may be wrong here] Samuel S. Puffer. Their witnesses were Henry W. Yates and Loretta Yates. Samuel R. was b. Putnam Co., IL and would have been 23 on his next b., according to the marriage record. I have the birth and death dates on him from the grave stone. He and Alice are both bur. in Chatsworth cem. Son, Louis Puffer was b. 1883 and d. 1965 per the grave stone but I don't know much else about him [no exact dates]...he married Lillie M. Unknown [1885-1934 per grave stone], on unknown date and they had a dtr. Mary Jane Puffer b. unknown and no other info. on her other than I know she lived in Livingston Co. area and went to school in/near chatsworth. Dtr. Carrie Puffer Hedges b. 9 Dec.1881. Per grave stone: [1881-1964]. Married V. W. Hedges. No other information. Carrie is buried with her family there in Chatsworth. Her husband's stone is not with the rest of the family's, nor is he listed on her stone. Interesting. Chatsworth Plaindealer November 3, 1911 Mrs. Samuel R. Puffer Dies On Sunday morning at about seven o'clock, at the family home in the southwest part of this city, occurred the death of Mrs. Samuel R. Puffer following an illness of over four months. Mrs. Puffer's health had been poor for several years, and during the past fourteen years she has been ill 66 weeks. Her malady was cancer, and her death is the first in the family of twenty-one children of Bennett Pearson. Alice Lavina [Leona is correct, not Lavina] Pearson was born at Brimfield, Peoria County, Illinois, November 16, 1861, and was the eldest daughter of Mrs. Hannah Pearson of this city. She came to Chatsworth with her parents when a small girl, and on March 16, 1881, was united in marriage with Samuel R. Puffer. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Louis L. Puffer, of Chatsworth, one daughter, Mrs. W. V. Hedges, of Frankfort, Illinois, one grandchild, Mary Alice Puffer, her aged mother, the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. C. W. Stephens, Logansport, Ind.; Mrs. William Felt, Mrs. Alva Dann, Mrs. John G. Piercy, all of Waukee, Iowa; Fred, of Fairmont, Neb.; Charles and William, of Waukee, Iowa; Fillmore, of Rich Hill, Mo.; Elmer, Edward, Jesse, Arthur and Ira, of Chatsworth; and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: Thomas Pearson, Mrs. Hattie White, Harry Pearson, all of Fairmont, Neb.; Sarah Swartz, of Sutton, Neb.; George Pearson, of Grand Island, Neb.; Mrs. Eliza Nixon of Arrowsmith, Ill.; John Pearson, of Waukee, Iowa. In early life Mrs. Puffer affiliated herself with the M. E. Church, but in 1889 she transferred her membership to the Chatsworth Baptist Church. She was a lady most highly esteemed by a large circle of friends, and her taking away is the cause of sorrow in the hearts of many to whom her ministrations in the time of need had made her dear. The funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock. Rev. V. A. Crumbaker of the M. E. Church officiating, and the large number of friends in attendance filled the home and the yard. The interment was at Chatsworth cemetery, and the number who followed the remains to their last resting place was very large, and attested of the high esteem in which deceased was held by the people of this community. The pall-bearers were six of the brothers of deceased. Those from a distance who attended ther funeral were: Dr. W. V. Hedges, of Frankfort, Mrs. C. W. Stephens, of Logansport, Ind.; Mrs. and Mrs. J. C. Puffer and daughter, of Chicago; Mrs. Hattie White and Fred Pearson, of Fairmont, Neb.; William Pearson, of Waukee, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Nixon, Arrowsmith; Tunnard Storey, of Edison, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Storey, of Bloomington; Mrs. Lina Puffer, of Odell; Mrs. Emma Phillips, of Lostant; Mrs. Hess, of Bonfield; Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Pierce, of Bloomington; Mrs. Lizzie Elson, of Chenoa; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sideholz, of Kankakee; Mrs. Lambourn and daughter, of Wenona. Does any of this connect with your Puffer family????
