I'm looking for any information at all on STEWARTS around 1864-65. If anyone has city directories, census with family members, church records, birth, marriage or what have you, I'd hugely appreciate any bit of information available. Thank you Shirl in OH
This IRAD stands for Illinois Regional Archives Depository Address is Williams Hall Illinois State University Campus Box 5500 Normal, IL 61790-5500 Phone #309-452-6027. They are most helpful.
It depends on what county you are looking for IRAD is broke up in to different regions and some counties sent there records to IRAD is for Here is the Url http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/irad/iradregn.html if you are in Livingston you will go to ISU for those counties and you can call them also they will tell you what they have . It would be nice if all the counties sent them their records . It depended on the county what they sent IRAD if they don;t have it they will tell you where to go . IRAD is great ,Sharon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Julius Drone" <julius76@earthlink.net> To: <ILLIVING-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 14, 2001 5:29 PM Subject: Re: [ILLIVING] Broughton Twp Cemetery > Hi folks, > This "IRAD" is an acronym of something; what might it be? > I'm just getting to the point of searching Illinois Records. > How does one contact them (IRAD) regarding their data? > Julius Drone > > > ============================== > Shop Ancestry - Everything you need to Discover, Preserve & Celebrate > your heritage! > http://shop.myfamily.com/ancestrycatalog > >
Hi folks, This "IRAD" is an acronym of something; what might it be? I'm just getting to the point of searching Illinois Records. How does one contact them (IRAD) regarding their data? Julius Drone
You have answered a multitude of questions here. John B sponsered my Dad in coming from Germany in 1924. John's visa application for Dad states he had no dependants and yet I knew he had a son. Now I know he was living with his adult son. He lived very close to where I live now. He also listed himself as Dad's uncle but that name doesn't show up anywhere in my family tree so I'm just beginning a search to see if that is true. Dad was in Streator for awhile in the late 20's when he still worked for John so my next step might be to check out their City Directories. Thank you so much for your help. Hi Sharon - I have dealt with the IRAD for marriage cert's and they are quite reasonable, but I would think I would need the death dates in order to get the death records checked, would I not? It would be quite a chore to check them from 1880 to 1914. The 1924 Pontiac city directory lists John B. Reis Of Reis and Son as residing at 308 w. North St. and John J. Reis, Wife Nellie as Householder at 308 w. North st. Reis and Son Tailors and Cleaners at 214 W. Madison st. In 1926 John J and Nellie are listed with 4 children. and in 1930 with 5 and John B. is no longer listed in 1930. In later years some changes of address are shown as well as names of children of John J. and Nellie. Hope this is helpful, let me know if you want more from directories after 1930.
I have found the address for the courthouse: 112 W.Madison, Pontiac, Illinois, USA 61764-1871 Thanks everyone for all your help on this. - Karen in BC
Hi Virginia - I have birth dates for the parents, and approx years on the children. I have no death dates. The parents, James and Jane, were still there in 1880 census but not in the 1900 census for that area, so I presume they died in that time, in that area. If you have an address, I could write to the Livingston County Courthouse. - Karen in BC Canada ----- Original Message ----- From: Comaward <comaward@frontiernet.net> To: <ILLIVING-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 13, 2001 3:56 PM Subject: Re: [ILLIVING] Broughton Twp Cemetery > Hi Karen, I lived in Emington and knew of a Close family that lived and > farmed east of Emington and north of Kempton. This is for Karen who is looking for the Close family that she believes may be buried in Broughton Township Cemetery. I have names of a couple of the trustees for her. Virginia
Hi Karen, I lived in Emington and knew of a Close family that lived and farmed east of Emington and north of Kempton. Would this be the family you are looking for? Also, if you have some dates, you could call the Livingston County Court House and have someone there do some reseach for you. Verda is probably the best there is, however, give her lots of time as she gets lots of requests and has just a few helpers these days. One nice thing she has done is put a picture of the marker and as much information, obits, etc with each person buried in a Livingston County cemetery. Good luck in your research. Hi Listers - Does anyone have access to the cemetery transcriptions for Broughton Twp cemetery, Emington, Illinois? I am still searching for my CLOSE family, and after getting copies of 1880 census, I now know that they lived and farmed in Broughton Twp. and probably died there as well. It is most likely they would be buried in Broughton Twp cemetery. The only address I can find for the cemetery is Broughton Twp Cemetery, Broughton Twp., Emington, Illinois, 60934. Is that address good enough to get a letter there, or should there be a box number or street address? I have also tried to find a library in Emington, in hopes they have an e-mail address, but didn't have any luck. Sometimes libraries have cemetery transcriptions of their local cemeteries. Any help greatly appreciated. - Karen in BC Canada
I am trying to get some information on John B Reis living in Pontiac in 1924. Is there anyone who has any information on this family? Peg
