I have a bit of a "mystery", and I'm hoping you may be able to help. I've only come across this information today, so I don't know where to turn. My GGgrandfather, Samuel Gordon (along with his wife, Susan McDowell Gordon) were married in Ottawa, IL in 1859. They had a very large family (my mother says that there were 14 children). My greatgrandfather, Frank Gordon was born in Utica, IL in 1875. The information that I've just come across concerns the death of a farm hand of Samuel Gordon's. The death happened in 1888 or 1889, when Frank Gordon was only 13 years old. Grandpa Frank evidently witnessed his father kill this farmhand, and when his father realized that he had witnessed the killing, he went after Frank. Well, not being stupid, Frank literally ran for his life. He managed to get away from his father, and never returned. From IL, he went to OK, where he met and married his wife, and eventually ended up in California, where he died in 1957. The family that Frank left in IL, evidently, thought that he had died, because he never again had any contact with any of them. Samuel Gordon died 10 JAN 1912, in Deer Park, IL. Is there any way that you can check to see if there is any truth to this story? Or point me in the right direction, so that I may check it out? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
