Hi Peggy, If you're asking about civil records, rather than church records, it looks like it was after 1900 that marriage records asked for names of parents, age, birthplace, place of residence, occupation and names of witnesses. Even then, they were not always filled in. In any case, this information was included in a document called "Illinois State Board of Health Return of a Marriage to County Clerk". It was filed with the actual marriage license and marriage affidavit. If you don't live near Ottawa, you can view the civil marriage records, and indexes to them, on LDS film. The years 1831-1916 are available.
