    1. [ILLASALL-L] Prairie Farmer
    2. Hi everyone! A few weeks ago, I was given the name and address of a distant relation, taken from my Gt grandmothers address book. I did a name search and came up with a result in the 'Prairie Farmer's Directory of LaSalle County, Illinois, 1917. The information was presented exactly as follows; GAFF, Alfred Streater R6 Otter Creek Sec11 T120a Mrs H Gaff (1902) All the other entries on this page had the first name of the 'farmer' immediately after the bold typed surname, followed by his wife (including maiden name), and then, names of children. As you can see, there is no such detail here! I'm assuming that a semi colon has been missed out and that Alfred is the Christian name of the farmer, he was not married, and the name of the farm is 'Streater'. According to the list of abbreviations the 'T120a' refers to the acreage of the farm and that the farmer was a Tenant or Renter, and, although this isn't explained in the abbreviations, it would seem from the other entries, that the name at the end of the entry is the owner of the land. Can anyone provide a) confirmation of my theories relating to this entry. b) a link between Alfred Gaff and Mrs H Gaff. c) any other details relating to these people. Many thanks Steve ( in the U.K ! )
