That is just about the same time my gg-grandfather would have settled in Mendota! We have him purchasing a bit of land there in 1848 and a child being born in Ireland in 1845, so I figure he must have made the migration sometime during those three years 45-48. His name was Thomas MEATH b. 1810 in Ireland wife Anna M (SHERIDAN) MEATH b 1823 in Ireland They had a number of children, at least four or five born in Illinois, including my grandfather - Thomas b. 1854 all birthdates have been calculated according to Illinois census' for 1850-60-70 ... so they might be off by a year I had heard from someone that Thomas and Anna (and other family members) were buried in Holy Cross Cemetary, but I'm unsure as to what to do with this information. The person also thought either Thomas or Anna had where they were born in Ireland on their tombstone. I contacted the only Catholic church in town to see what information I could get through them, but was told that I would have to go in to sort through the information. I'm in Texas so not close enough to just hop in the car and go, but I am trying to plan a trip there for this summer. I'd like to go armed with as much information already gathered as possible. Any ideas you have on where to go from here would be greatly appreciate. Best to you and yours, Catherine ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Volunteer of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnraogk/index.htm Searching for M.E.A.T.H -- S.H.E.R.I.D.A.N
