I thought this would be of interest to someone besides me, William Davis is my gr.-gr.-gr.-grandfather. I am also interested in finding out more about this Indian attack and the names of Williams parents. This excerpt was taken from " History of Carroll County, Illinois". Cheryl Latto William Davis born April 13, 1815 in W.V.,came to this state in 1824, to Vermillion Co., then to La Salle; lived on Indian Creek, six miles from Ottawa, in 1832, where his father was building a mill at the commencement of the Indian War; all of the neighbors had gone to Ottawa, expect the two families of Hall and Pettigrew, who where at his father's cabin when they were attacked by the Indians; his father, his mother, two brothers and two sisters were killed, together with Mr.. and Mrs.. Hall and one daughter; two daughters of Mr.. Hall were taken prisoners; Mr.. Davis and his brother Stephen escaped, William moved to Carroll Co, in Feb 1841.
