I have been following the threads too. It is a book about coal mines in Streator,Illinois which is about 15 miles south of Ottawa. It was mainly Italian, Irish and Polish that immigrated and worked in the coal mines in the area in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Still working on mainly census entries and trying to find manifest for your Marx's. Should be on Ellis Island site I would think, but haven't found it yet. Have you been on the site? It is free and is just worth looking at.
