Is anyone in this group researching the Kimes family of Streator? I have done quite a bit of research myself and I am looking for others who can add to what I have found. I am especially interested in old pictures. I am also interested in finding photos from the 1890's taken by a commercial photographer named Jameson. Greetings from Streator, I checked the photo file, did note find a Kimes picture on the list. There was an article about the Kimes School. M. Kimes sold the 5 acres of land to the school for $25,000. A low price considering the new homes/subdivision that were going up in the area at the time. I think there might be a photo of her with the article. Our pictures are not sorted by photographer, so I don't know if we have any taken by Jameson. Hi Bill, I always thought Kimes was a unique name. Just wanted you to know that I knew a family of Kimes who lived north of Osceola (Clarke or Madison Cos) as I grew up there. Their son, Gary married my dear girlfriend, V, and now div. Gary Kimes was appointed county attorney in Clarke. Then, he was appointed Judge for south central Iowa. He is a real success story. Osceola was on the Mormon Trail out of Nauvoo drawing people out of central IL. This is a thought.
