Susan, I can't speak for other researchers, but I have personally found the help at theLaSalle County Genealogy Guild extremely helpful (thank you Jean). If you contact the guild via the internet, they have a listing of several hotels/motels in Ottawa. There are also several motels close to the Interstate at the Peru/LaSalle exit that are nice. Depends on where you want to stay. The distance between Ottawa and La Salle is not very great and an easy drive. If you are doing research, I would recommend visiting the county building also. About joining the guild. The cost is not expensive and the funds go to help preserve the records we are researching. I have not been a member long and have enjoyed the assistance the guild has given me when I was in the area. Long distance research can be difficult.
