DEATH TAKES JOHN H. RICE Passing Occurs At Home O Daughter, Mrs. B. Hocking, Rites Friday. John H. Rice, 79, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Rice, pioneer months ago. at 7:15 o'clock last evening in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bart Hocking, 1108 Madison street. He had been in failing health the past two years, but his condition did not become critical unto two months ago. The decedent was born in Illinois, October 19, 1866. His marriage to Oma Jane Stokes took place at Long Point, March 10, 1892, and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1942. They were the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Dollie Schwanke, of Peru, and Mrs. Hocking, of this city. In addition to his daughters, Mr. Rice leaves a granddaughter, Norma Schwanke, a niece, Mrs. Frances Lewman, and a nephew, Dudley Divine of Joliet. Mrs. Rice died April 28?, 1945, at the Hocking home, were she and her husband had been residing. Mr. Rice was engaged in farming in the vicinity of Long Point until about 22 years ago, when he and his family moved to Streator. He was employed at the Purington Brick company here until failing health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Christian church at Long Point. Final rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Hagi funeral home, where fiends may call Thursday evening and until the hour of the service . Interment will be made in the family lot in the Long Point cemetery. Joanie
