Hope I can locate information regarding this gentleman. I found his name in a letter written by a relative in W.W.I. Fred Hasenkamper of Streator met this man Leo Penoffsky at Camp Dodge, Iowa. They became buddies. Leo's sister was a Mrs. E.M. Rinehart of Sumner/Summer St. Streator, IL (Aug 1918). Fred was wounded in the war and the two buddies were separated. Letters home repeatedly mention looking for Leo. Can someone out there tell me if Leo made it home? Have transcribed many of the saved letters and doubt that times have changed much with regard to soldiers away from home and at war. Getting letters is a BIG THING.
