Dear List, I could sure use some suggestions, thoughts and information for I am not familiar with this area of Illinois. My gg grandparents came to the U.S. in April 1892. They seem to have settled in Peru. They were farmers. Two or three of 10 of their children were born there. One of their children that was born there (poss 1892) had died there. I was told she was about 2 yrs old. Her name was Marie (her first name so I am told) Grajkowski(a). They were Polish and I am assuming that they were Catholic. Another of their daughter's married there (my g grandfather-Klemens Haraburda was also a farmer). I have emailed "The LaSalle Co. Gen. Guild of IL" and am waiting for a reply in regards to the marriage cert. I am hoping the marriage cert tells me more as to their religion so that I may contact whomever for records, if there are any. Would I go through "The LaSalle Co. Gen. Guild of IL" for all birth, death and marriage certs? The thought that keeps going through my mind is...they sure did make a beeline to Peru to live which makes me think that they may have known someone already there. I was told that my gg grandfather had two sisters but I have no clue as to their last names and I know nothing of relatives to my gg grandmother nor any of my g grandfather's relatives (he came to the U.S. alone in 4/1891) that may have lived in Peru. They weren't there long (1892-1896?) for in 1900 they were in another state. Martha S. .
