    1. RE: [ILLASALLE] Dwight Obituary

    3. Hi Joanie, Thanks for looking up the information for me. Yes, the Ransom book has Hannah's death date as 1833 when it actually should be 1883. There are a NUMBER of errors in the Ransom book. Allen (my g-grandfather) died on June 25th & was buried on June 27th in Allen Cemetery. David & Hannah lived in Dwight at the corner of Washington & 2nd or 3rd street sometime after 1870. I think Hannah is listed in the 1860 census as David's wife so I am not sure whey she wouldn't be listed in 1870.She may have lived with Elvina & Dr. Weiler after David died in 1877. Dr. Weiler was a widower but it was the first marriage for Elvina. Barnes & his family are buried in Allen Cemetery but he actually died in Alabama as did Lavira. Elvina died in Tennessee & I believe that Hazael died in Indiana. (Hazael was male by the way!) Lavira married a widower named George Howland & they lived in Ottawa. I think David died at their home & Hannah died at Elvira's home - or it could be visa versa. Thanks, Verna -----Original Message----- From: Joan [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, April 14, 2003 6:53 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ILLASALLE] Dwight Obituary Greetings from Streator, Do you have the dates of death? I don't have the Allen Township Cemetery at home. The Ransom book stated that David died on August 14, 1877. His name is not on the Streator Free Press obituary list, the Monitor is not yet indexed. The Ransom book lists Hannah's death as July 3, 1833. Now, that must by a typo. Anna and David are in the 1870 La Salle Co. Census. Hannah is not listed in the 1870 Census for La Salle Co. Was she living in Dwight with Elvina and Dr. Weiler by then? Could Dr. Weiler have been a dentist? Elvina married Dr. Weiler in 1875, at the age of 45. Was this the first marriage for both of them? Do you have the dates of death for Elvina's siblings, Barnes, Lavira, or Hazel? Maybe their obituaries would have some information. (Allen might have died June 27, 1930.)
