Jacob Herter was my paternal Grandmother's father. He was born abt 1848 in Baden. Names of his parents, siblings or date of arrival in this country are unknown. He apparently settled in the area of Peru, LaSalle, IL where he married Rosalinda Walter on 7 Nov 1871. The couple had the following children (1) Emelie Minnie (My Grandmother)-b. 1872 (2) Jacob A. -b. 1874 (3) Carrie Rose - b. 1878 (4) Albert (5) Arnold... Jacob Herter died in 1899 in Iola, Allen, KS. Any information regarding his family in Peru would be greatly appreciated. Particularly would like to know identity of his parents who may have continued to reside there for some years.
