I don't know why her obit was in the paper. Andrew Hayer, who died in 1899 and Ellen, his wife, who died in 1925 did not have an obit in the Streator paper. Veterans usually rated an obituary. I remember reading that the Streator newspapermen were complaining that county legal notices were not being placed in the local Streator papers. Perhaps putting in county wide obituaries was their way of expanding their readership area. It is kind of a "hit or miss" thing.
