    3. what I do in searching the 1880 census is go to www.familysearch.com and when I find the info of what page and such go to Heritage Quest online and in the upper left hand corner click on browse and You san find the real cenus page.     3. HQ does NOT have a serchable index for 1880 that is why you have to BROWSE. at familysearch you can get the name of town, page number so makes the search easier.     3. Well I'm slow on the draw here. Thank you Karen. I just assumed that 1880 wasn't available on HQ since it isn't in the index. We both know what they say happens when you assume!! Well, that's an apt description of me just now. I've used the browse before of course looking for someone that I can't find indexed but never noticed that 1880 was among the years browsable.     3. Hey, that's cool. I keep forgetting about the browse capability, and apparently these census records are continually being edited and not all the images may be indexed. The virtue of the Ancestry.com search is that you do get some usable info, even with limited access to the records.
