Greetings from Streator, There was/is a cookie factory in Wenona. At one time they only made Archway cookies, now they make delicious cookies for several companies. -- Streatorland Historical Society 306 South Vermillion Street Streator, Illinois 61364 Monday - Friday 9:30 - 2:30 Sunday 1 - 4 p.m. > Hello everyone. Thanks for your reply. I always seem to leave something out when I post a query. In 1900 Walter and family were living in Fairbury, IL; in 1910, Walter and his family were living at 313 S. Bloomington St., Streator, IL; in 1920 he and his wife were at 211 S. Bloomington St., Streator. In 1930, he was still at 211 S. Bloomington St. in Streator. In 1930 he is listed with a 9 year old grandson and his obituary states this grandson is his son. He died on March 1, 1948. Perhaps someone can help me locate his widow's obituary or his daughter's obituary. I am curious as to why they raised their grandson. Could their daughter have died? No, because she is listed as still alive in Walter's obituary. HMMM! So many questions. And the 1930 census says that he was a candy salesman, not a cookie salesman as I previously posted. My apologies. I am presuming that the candy manufacturing plant was in Streator. Thanks in advance.
