    1. I'm New to the list-My research
    2. Hi all My name is Tina and I thought I'd take a minute to introduce myself and my research. The surnames I'm researching from this area are DECKER & BUCKINGHAM. Some of the secondary names in my tree are SCHRUM, CUNNINGHAM, BEAL, FAIRBANKS, HACKENSMITH.....to name a few. My GGrandfather was Joseph Van DECKER, son of William DECKER and Rebecca SCHRUM. My Grandmother is Joseph's youngest daughter and is now 89. Her mother was Lottie BUCKINGHAM who died when she was 2. Joseph remarried Martha HACKENSMITH (her name from a previous marriage) and my Grandmother and she didn't get along well...from what I can gather. She knew very little of her father and his family to start with and since she has had a stroke recently has lost some of her memory. I would love to be able to fill in the holes of my tree for her. I will be glad to share any information I have...as well as some pictures..... The main line I'm interested in is William DECKER married Sarah Fairbanks Their Children are: Joseph Decker Frank Decker Fred Decker Adwin Decker Lawrence Decker Vernie Decker According to one census, Sarah was the mother of 8 children, of which 5 were living. I'm pretty sure that Frank died sometime before 1910 since I haven't been able to find him on any census since 1900.....grandmother had never heard of him. Also, I think that they had a child that was born after the 1880 census and died before 1910. I was unable to find my group in the 1900 census, unfortunately...so am unable to verify that. One descendant of Fred Decker thinks that their first child was actually named Willie Decker, who died as a baby, but I have been unable to verify that. Thanks in advance for your help. I look forward to chatting with you all. Tina
