    2. There is an Ole (b abt 1789) and Caroline (b abt 1791)Hayer in Mission(Miller) Twp in the 1860 Census. Any chance they are the parents? Could Ole and Oliver be siblings? The 1850 census has in Mission Twp a Andrew, aged 35 and Olina, aged 30, HYER. Directly above them on the list is Ole (jr.?), aged 38, and Margaret, aged 39, HYER. Other Hyer's in the 1850 census for Mission Twp. Hans, aged 28, and Sarah, aged 18, both born in Norway Oliver, aged 31, and Julia, aged 29, both born in Norway. Did not see Ole, Sr., perhaps he came after? I live south of the river, so my knowledge of Mission/Miller Twp is limited. I don't know when Miller Twp. was created from Mission Twp. Julia (Oliver) Hayer is listed as having an obit in the Streator paper dated Feb. 25, 1904. -- Streatorland Historical Society 306 South Vermillion Street Streator, Illinois 61364 Monday - Friday 9:30 - 2:30 Sunday 1 - 4 p.m.

    3. I just got a death cert for the groom and it says he was 34 when first married. As for the bride, I have no clue, but they did not have any children in this marriage. Just in case someone on the list is researching these people I am looking for Charles BEEBE m to Malissa BANCROFT 11/13/1863/ 2537 LaSalle. On the death cert, it shows Melissa. 3. I am new to the list and recently found in the IL marriage list my ancestor who married in 1863. As it is in the listing I want to request a certificate and I am writing to the La Salle County Courthouse as suggested. Does anyone know the cost of this service? On the site it says that all counties differ in costs. Has anyone had recent experience is requesting a marriage cert. Can you tell me how much for this? Thank you, Nana(NAY-na) RUTHERFORD Redell

    3. Dear Gwen, If you have access to 1880 Illinois Census, Il, LaSalle County, Dist 76 page 452b you will find Andrew Hayer age 64 from Norway and his wife Helen Hayer age 34 also from Norway They are living in family 116/119 with her mother Danels, Sarah age 7, mo-in-iaw and Danels, Donelson age 36, br-in-law. I feel certain the ages are mixed up for the last two. There are lots of Norwegians on this page and several other Hayer families. If you don't have a access to either a computer where you can get the info from Ancestry.com on a two week trial membership (free) or at or a library which has Census records, I"ll copy this page and post it to you, so you'll need to send your postal address. 3. Hi Joanie Thank you for your suggestions. I am going to order James Sexton's will for a start. What about Naturalization records? I notice there are 14 reels of naturalization index cards for LaSalle County available at the LDS. Would they be of any value in my search? We know that Charles Rumble was born in England. I would like to prove that he actually went from Canada to Illinois in the mid-1850's. Bonnie -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 1. Re: [ILLASALLE] Charles Rumble of Bruce, LaSalle Co.
    2. Probably nothing on the marriage, too early. James Sexton had a will, he died 1875?. Maybe he left something to his "brother-in-law?" The La Salle Co. Genealogy Guild has the org. of the will. Where was Charles when his brother in law died? Kansas? Would there be a death notice/obit for Sexton, "saying brother in law of Rumble died?" We have a lot of those in the Streator paper. When did Charles and his wife die? Their obit could have made the Streator paper. There are a lot of "wife's brother, in- law's, obits in the paper with no name of the deceased. FYI - There was an Isaac Carle living in Bruce in 1850, he and his wife had a child, named Elizabeth born about 1838. Since Elizabeth and Chas. first son was Isaac, that was probably her father. I don't know what happened to Isaac and Jane Carle. I will look and see ir I can find anything. -- Streatorland Historical Society 306 South Vermillion Street Streator, Illinois 61364 Monday - Friday 9:30 - 2:30 Sunday 1 - 4 p.m.

    2. Bonnie Ostler
    3. Hi Joanie You helped me in January with information about James Sexton and his wife, Elizabeth Rumble of Bruce, LaSalle Co. At that time you mentioned Charles Rumble in the 1870 cenuss age 36 born in PA. lin sec 24 on the plat book with J. Sexton and S. Cate and asked whether he was related. I said he was not because Elizabeth Rumble Sexton's brother, Charles Rumble was would have been 44, born England. I am now in contact with someone who is tracing the Charles Rumble who lived in LaSalle. She says he wa born in England "ca. 1830). So, now we are looking for something to prove that Charles Rumble who lived Streator was Elizabeth Rumble Sexton's brother. We are quite certain he is but would like something a bit more tangible that what we have at the moment. Can you make any suggestions? To refresh what is known, the Sextons were married in Canada 1842 and appear in the 1850 census for Bruce, LaSalle Charles Rumble was married in LaSalle Co. RUMPLE, Charles to CARLE, Elizabeth 02 24 1857 B /----- 2855 LaSalle (on-line statewide index). Would the marriage record give groom's father so we could cross reference with my Charles Rumble's parents? Charles and Elizabeth Rumble had several children in LaSalle Co. Isaac ( 1858), Miriam J. ( 1860), Lucy M. (1863), Mary M. (1865), Rilla B. (1867), Phoebe A. (1873). Another child was born at Wellington, Sumner Co. Kansas 1877). Any suggestions would be gratefully received. 1. RYAN Family
    2. Lori
    3. Hi Folks, I've just joined this list, due to a recent clue that I need to investigate. There is a Lawrence RYAN listed on the 1870 census in LaSalle. In his household is wife Mary, and children Mary E., age 13 and John, age 9. Lawrence and Mary were born in Ireland, and the children were born in Ohio. My greatgrandmothers name was Ellen "Nellie" RYAN, and she was born in Ohio abt 1860. My father was told his whole life that Nellie was from Illinois. All documentation that Nellie was a part of indicates birthplace as Ohio. After Nellie died, the children answered their mother was from Illinois. I have been stuck for about a year on this, as I've never been able to find Nellie in a family unit with her parents Lawrence & Mary. This particular family appears to be promising as a match, but I need to do the work and get verification. Nellie was living in Cincinnati in 1880, in the Charles Taft household as a servant. She married William MARTIN, a waiter at Hunt's Hotel in Cincinnati on 3 NOV 1880, at St. Xavier's Church. I have the marriage record from the church. Between the date of marriage and 4 SEP 1881, Nellie & William moved to New York City. Their firstborn came on that date, a daughter they named Mary E. If anyone has any information on the family stated above in the 1870 census, I'd be most grateful. Also, any websites that would be searchable for records in the LaSalle area would be appreciated. I should also mention that Mary RYAN, wife on that census, her maiden name was McCloud/McLeod. Can anyone tell me what sort of work would take a person from Ohio to Illinois? Could it be railroad? Thanks so much in advance for any suggestions, I really appreciate it. Lori

    1. Re: [ILLASALLE] New to List, LaSalle County ancestors, ENGLEMAN John and Ursula
    2. The marriage took place before 1877 and the information on the marriage license before that date does not list parents or place of birth. If they were married in a Catholic church , the church records might give the parents names. The two children of John's first marriage to Lena Stein were Amelia married to George Hastings and Lizzie (Elizabeth) married to William McMillan. Frederick's wife may have been Etta Guppy or Emma Mackinson. Their son's name is remembered as Thurlow. Any information will be appreciated. We can fill you in on John Meyer's life and parents. Thank you. Sophie Gottemoller
