    2. I have a Reverend Edmond Healy and its a Catholic church, then the papers I have say W. Phesmond, Pastor If that helps at all. I do appreciate your checking this for me. If you don't have records, are there are list of Catholic churches and phone numbers for that area that could be sent to me, I'll be glad to call them. 3. There are no birth records before 1877. They were not required to be registered until 1916. So there is no way to look up the births unless you know the church they went to. 1. I'm New to the list-My research
    2. Hi all My name is Tina and I thought I'd take a minute to introduce myself and my research. The surnames I'm researching from this area are DECKER & BUCKINGHAM. Some of the secondary names in my tree are SCHRUM, CUNNINGHAM, BEAL, FAIRBANKS, HACKENSMITH.....to name a few. My GGrandfather was Joseph Van DECKER, son of William DECKER and Rebecca SCHRUM. My Grandmother is Joseph's youngest daughter and is now 89. Her mother was Lottie BUCKINGHAM who died when she was 2. Joseph remarried Martha HACKENSMITH (her name from a previous marriage) and my Grandmother and she didn't get along well...from what I can gather. She knew very little of her father and his family to start with and since she has had a stroke recently has lost some of her memory. I would love to be able to fill in the holes of my tree for her. I will be glad to share any information I have...as well as some pictures..... The main line I'm interested in is William DECKER married Sarah Fairbanks Their Children are: Joseph Decker Frank Decker Fred Decker Adwin Decker Lawrence Decker Vernie Decker According to one census, Sarah was the mother of 8 children, of which 5 were living. I'm pretty sure that Frank died sometime before 1910 since I haven't been able to find him on any census since 1900.....grandmother had never heard of him. Also, I think that they had a child that was born after the 1880 census and died before 1910. I was unable to find my group in the 1900 census, unfortunately...so am unable to verify that. One descendant of Fred Decker thinks that their first child was actually named Willie Decker, who died as a baby, but I have been unable to verify that. Thanks in advance for your help. I look forward to chatting with you all. Tina

    3. George J. is the son of Joseph and Anna. He went by the nicname of Jody. This is his family. I have one source that shows Ruths maiden name as Zoebronet but I dont know if this is right. I would say that the funeral home record you have would be more accurate. I have not found any census record yet around 1890 but will check to see if anything is available for Penn. He should be in the 1900 census for LaSalle county tho per the ship manifest address. She and Benjamin must have returned for a visit to England in 1898 and already had a home in Streator. I just havent figured out the St. Marrys Streator that is listed. The census records are really hard to read on most and it would be easy to mistranscribe. Have had no luck using Ancestry so am trying to go thru the census page by page. Thank you for the information. Would you have access to any marriage information for Anna Dorman-James F. O'Neal Sr.? I have sent off for record copies but that was weeks ago. They would have married around 1908, his second her first. Trying to find a record that shows his parents. We think it may have been Willis and Mary (Shields) O'Neal. James F. Sr. died in 1915 and was buried the day James F. Jr. was born. 2. From Wagner's Funeral Home Record (I think) Ruth's father was Andrew Jeavons or Jendons? Correct? George J. and wife Viola V. Brink were married May 31, 1906. " On first coming to the US. Joseph located in Penn. but returned to England then came back with his family. George, his son, was a salesman for Bon Ami and later a road rep. for the Wrigley Gum Co. Later he had a cigar business in La Salle. Joe and Ruth had four sons and two daughters. If this is the correct George, the above info came from the O'Byrne History of La Salle County pub. in 1924. -- Streatorland Historical Society 306 South Vermillion Street Streator, Illinois 61364 Monday - Friday 9:30 - 2:30 Sunday 1 - 4 p.m. > I am researching the Dorman line from LaSalle County. 1. Re: [ILLASALLE] Address help
    2. St. Mary's in Streator was Immaculate Conception Church. There was also a St. Mary's Church in Kangley. Fr. O'Kelly was pastor of St. Mary's/Immaculate Conception and was noted for helping to bring miners' families across the pond. In the late 1870's the bishop sent him to New York, to bring people to this area. I think he spent a year there. To come to the US, you had to have a sponsor. To prove you would not be a burden to society.. By the way, Fr. Egan was titled Lord. Mr. Sabol, owner of a grocery store did the same for many Slovaks. St. Mary's is only a few blocks from the train station...I even have trouble finding Cottage St... So it would be easy for the family to find the church upon arrival. Col. Plumb also helped to bring families together...With a wife and kiddies at home, the men would show up for work on Monday. -- Streatorland Historical Society 306 South Vermillion Street Streator, Illinois 61364 Monday - Friday 9:30 - 2:30 Sunday 1 - 4 p.m. > I am researching the Dorman line from LaSalle County.
