MCSCHOOLER, LEVI: I found My great great grandfather's brother Levi McSchooler in Streator, LaSalle Co in the 1900 census living with a family of renters. Levi was born in Dec 1830 in Madison Co, NY. I found him again in 1850 in Kenosha Co, Wi living with my ggg grandparents and then a record he (and his father and his sister) purchased land in Fond du Lac Co, Wi in 1858. After that I have not located him (or his father) in any census or any other record until he shows up in LaSalle in 1900 with no family (per other family records he was married and had children). I am interested in him mainly as I want to track my ggg grandfather's movements after 1858 in Fond du Lac (ggg grandmother died in 1855 and is buried in Fond du Lac Co). Can any one help me with this elusive ancestor? Thank you. Prior to moving from Streator, Illinois in about 1922-23, to South Bend, Indiana, where he met and married my mother, my father, Virgil Leroy (Roy) Moss, resided in Streator and was married there to Myrtle Wright (although I'm not sure about her surname), and after several years they were divorced. In order to have complete records about my father, who died in 1949, I'd like to obtain dates of his marriage and divorce in Streator. Written records would not be necessary, but nice. Thanks to anyone who can give me a clue as to how to go about looking this up. I was told that Streator records could be in either of two counties. Margaret Udell udell@pacbell.net

I am the corresponding secretary for the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild. I just noticed that you had our IRAD holdings at Southern Illinois University. They are not there. Anything for LaSalle County is at Northern Illinois University at DeKalb, IL. We do research for people for a fee of $10 and up depending how much we find. They can write to me at the Guild address or send me an e-mail and I will see what I can find. I teach third grade so I sometimes get behind in my research during the school year. I can only work on Saturday and sometimes at night. I'm glad to see that you took over the page. I will check on the queries often and if I think I can be of help, I will e-mail them. dkelly@digitalis.net I found on the 1860 census records of some of my ancestors that were living in Grand Rapids that year. Could someone tell me where Grand Rapids might have been? Has anyone ever heard of Grand Rapids, Illinois LaSalle County? Valerie
In a message dated 98-07-29 18:27:37 EDT, you write: << Do I take it no one does lookups for other people on this list? >> Not on my end. If I have the material I try to help as others have been so generous to me!!!! Hope that's not the case.
Hi Carol, I would greatly appreciate your looking up some WRIGHT family records for me. The 1870 and 1880 copies of the LaSalle County census which I have seen are totally illegible! Invisible ink! I am looking for 3 brothers and parents, perhaps living with one of their sons, in Groveland Twp or Osage Twp in 1870 and 1880: 1. Parents are Byard and Nancy Wright. Byard born about1800 and Nancy about 1805. I don't know where. All the are boys born in Ohio. 2. Son George Wright born about 1835 (Middle initial may be a "W") 3. Son Andrew Wright born about 1837 (Married Eliza, son named William) 4. Son Loyd Wright born about 1844 (Married Sarah) They are listed in 1850 Evans Twp., Marshall County but moved to LaSalle Co. I believe. Thank you so very much for your offer. Peggy Cacciamatta PegSpeed@aol.com
Hey, If there is anybody else out their that may need a look up, out of LaSalle County Census records, send me a note. I am at a dead-end on my family right now, but out of habit I go to the library anyway, once a week. Carol Valerie or Kelly, (??) The LaSalle County Mailing list was just started 3 weeks ago. It is a very small list as of right now, but I hope that it will grow very soon. I usually get to the library once a week. What was it that you wanted looked up in the census? I won't get there until Friday, but would be glad to look something up in the census records. I live in the Tampa, FL area, so all that we have for LaSalle County, are the census records.
