    3. I am searching my MIDDLETON genealogy. I have had this confounded block since I began. My grandfather's name was James Orville Middleton. He was born Mendota, IL (LaSalle county) in 1924. I am needed to find out what his fathers name so I can research my family history. James had a brother named Joy (possiably born in 1918) and he had a sister Kathy and another sister Doris. His mother's name was Mae if I am not mistaken and later she became Mae Petit(not sure is that was her maiden name or if she remarried). If any of this information sounds familiar PLEASE email me back. BTW James Orville Middleton married Mary Cushing sometime in the forties. They also had a child-James Patrick Middleton(my father) and also got a divorce in the forties( they were busy during those forties I tell ya) Anyway if any of this sounds familiar or if they have an easy way to look it up in LaSalle County records I WOULD SOOOOOO MUCH APPRECIATE it. I am on my last strings here. Thanks MUCH! Jessica Ann Middleton Dunn ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. Hi- I am new to the mailing list. Am looking for info. on the Gould family. Warner M. Gould was born 1848 at ? He may have used his middle name M. In 1871 he was in Otto Co, Nebraska City, NE. A son George Gould was born there. In 1876 he married Martha Moore in Oakland, Schuyler Co, Birmingham, IL. The Moore family was from this area. Now, I know he remained there until at least 1880 because my grandmother Olive (Ollie) Gould was born in Oakland Twp, Schuyler Co, Ray, IL. After that? I believe Warner expired before 1900 because Martha Moore married again to Billings Robinson, and then again later to Frank Shepherd. Martha is buried in Ottawa Illinois Cemetery, LaSalle Co. with Frank Shepherd (her third husband). In 1897 Ray SCHUYLERITE, Vol. 23, "James Moore, Ollie Gould, Walter and Lillie Sowers visited with relatives near Birminham last week." My grandmother Ollie had moved to ? 2. Ron Lewis I have the LaSalle County ILL Cemetery list which was on LaSalle Co webpage thru usgenweb. Listed in Earlville were 3 cemeteries. Earl Cemetery Saint Theresa Tripp Cemetery. Could not believe there were 8 cemeteries listed at Marseilles. This is where my gr grandparents were. The Ottawa Co Historical Society in Ottawa is was of great help for me. I have had some help thru snail mail and then I was able to visit there last month. The volunteers are very helpful. Of course it pays to be a member. It is a beautiful area. 2. The name of the cemetery is RESTLAND. The one across the street is a catholic cemetery, I believe the name is St Mary's. We have many family members buried in Restland, but the records through the years have been very poorly kept. Many of our family had no gravestones, and the sexton has no records. We know they are buried there because of family still living and obituaries. My husband's Mother is buried there, and when they had no records of grandparents etc., he became so angry, he asked about his Mother. She has a headstone, and we attended the funeral in 1974, and have visited the grave on many occasions. They could not tell my husband from the records that she is buried there until the Sexton took a walk through the cemetery to where my husband told her to go, and found the grave. I do not believe the present sexton is at fault, they had only been there a short while when we talked to them last year. Hope you have good luck, and find all the info you need. Good Hunting, Ellen

    3. The ILLINOIS STATE HISTORICAL LIBRARY is a wonderful source for Illinois newspapers on microfilm. They grant interlibrary loan to anyone living in the State of Illinois. For requests outside of Illinois call the library to check on their policy at 217-524-7216. They will do a search of what is available for the area you are searching. These can also be purchased, check with the library on cost and availability of the master roll. Their address is: ILLINOIS STATE HISTORICAL LIBRARY, Old State Capital Building, Springfield, IL 62701.

I always have a very hard time getting to the IL State Archives website, and get discouraged by the sites that are down or the pages can not be accessed, or it takes over 5 minutes to get to the page that I have chosen to see. I want to see some newspapers for Peru or LaSalle. Kay Diers

Perhaps the Ottawa paper is also on microfilm. I got mine from the Ill State Archives. They have a list of available papers and years covered. Hope this helps. Lori Prouty

I have a bit of a "mystery", and I'm hoping you may be able to help. I've only come across this information today, so I don't know where to turn. My GGgrandfather, Samuel Gordon (along with his wife, Susan McDowell Gordon) were married in Ottawa, IL in 1859. They had a very large family (my mother says that there were 14 children). My greatgrandfather, Frank Gordon was born in Utica, IL in 1875. The information that I've just come across concerns the death of a farm hand of Samuel Gordon's. The death happened in 1888 or 1889, when Frank Gordon was only 13 years old. Grandpa Frank evidently witnessed his father kill this farmhand, and when his father realized that he had witnessed the killing, he went after Frank. Well, not being stupid, Frank literally ran for his life. He managed to get away from his father, and never returned. From IL, he went to OK, where he met and married his wife, and eventually ended up in California, where he died in 1957. The family that Frank left in IL, evidently, thought that he had died, because he never again had any contact with any of them. Samuel Gordon died 10 JAN 1912, in Deer Park, IL. Is there any way that you can check to see if there is any truth to this story? Or point me in the right direction, so that I may check it out? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! 3. We are looking for links; siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins who relate to our CAHILLS. The following is what we know. JAMES (or could be Patrick) CAHILL was born in IRELAND and married JOHANNA (WALSH?) in Ireland. They had at LEAST two children, WILLIAM and MICHAEL. William was born May 1, 1838 in CO. CLARE(?), IR. Michael was born 1845 in Ireland. We know that William immigrated to America in 1848, Johanna and Michael probably came at the same time, but we are not sure if James ever did get to the States. We do not know where they entered. Or where they were, 1848-1855. William arrived in ILLINOIS in 1855 (age 17) and spent the rest of his life in IL. He married ELLEN QUINN, April 30, 1862 at St. Patrick's Church in LASALLE, LaSalle Co., IL. They had 3 children; MICHAEL, MARY, MARGARET (married a BRADY and a COOK) all born in LaSalle: and 4 children born in NEVADA Township, LIVINGSTON Co., IL; JOHN, WILLIAM, JAMES and ELLEN "Nellie" (married HANLEY). William died Dec. 31, 1910, Nevada Township, buried at St. Paul's Cemetery, Odell, Livingston Co., IL Michael (William's brother) married MARY E (?) and they had at LEAST two children; JAMES born 1878, IL and MARY born June 20, 1879, IL. Mary died at a very early age and is buried at St. Paul's Cemetery, Odell, IL. We cannot locate William in 1860 or 1870 Federal Census, but he and his family are found in the 1880 Census and thereafter in Nevada Township with his family and many of his descendants are in that area yet today. Michael, his mother Johanna, his family are found in the 1870 and 1880 Federal Census in HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, GRUNDY CO, IL. Cannot locate them in the 1860 Census. We also can't locate Michael, Johanna (mother) or James (son) after he sold his land in Highland Township in 1892. We have checked cemeteries, death records, obituaries to no avail. We would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might relate to any of the above given names, locations, dates of our Cahill's. Thanks for listening.
