Patricia, is there anyone in the index by the name of Brady or Vyers. My Brady's ended up in Tonica by 1920 but were a real traveling family so am not sure if they made a mark in history there. Thanks for doing this, Nancy PHayes707@aol.com wrote: > I have the 1990 history of Tonica, IL ("The First 100 Years"), and it contains > a surname index. Gary, Yes, Daniel RADCLIFF had sons and daughters and even some grandchildren ! Briefly, I have a Daniel Radcliff b. ca. 1785 in VA who married Rachael MCMANIS b. Feb. 5, 1799 in Ky, Aug. 29, 1819. They lived in Clinton Co., probably in or near Wilmington, but sometime before 1848 they removed to Bureau Co., Princeton, IL. The 1850 Census, Roll # 99, p. 252, Household 345 shows: Daniel Radcliff, 65, M, Farmer, $5000, b. VA Rachael, 51, F, b. OH Mary, 24, F, b. OH Sarah, 24, F, b. OH Charles R., M, 20, Laborer, b. NY (This probably is not a son) They also had a son, George M. Radcliff b. ca. 1828 in OH. George married Minerva CORWIN May 13, 1863 in Lasalle Co., Cedar Point, IL. They had three sons, Frank Radcliff b. ca. 1860, Harry Radcliff b. ca. 1864 and Charles Radcliff b. ca. 1866. I have a transcribed letter written in 1848 from Elizabeth McManis Magee Hibben to her son William Magee in Bureau Co., Princeton, IL in which she mentions 'Brother and Sister Radcliff'. Rachael McManis Radcliff was Elizabeth's sister. Elizabeth McManis Magee Hibben was the widow of Dr. Magee and her second husband was William Hibben b. 1790 of Wilmington, OH. William's daughter by a previous marriage to Elizabeth SPRINGER was Rebecca Jane Hibben who married Franklin A. Corwin. George Radcliff married their daughter, Minerva. The Corwins, Magees and Radcliffs all removed to IL where they lived only about 15 miles apart, though in two counties, Bureau and Lasalle. I am not descended from this line of Hibbens. Are you descended from George and Minerva ? A month or so ago I responded to a posting on the Clinton Co., OH list from an address of mradcliff@marshall.edu Was this your posting ? This is not a valid address and my mail was returned. Marshall Univ. had no record of this address or a student or graduated named Radcliff. I will send you by regular mail copies of descendant and family group reports. Do you have similar documents to share ? I would like to add the information about Daniel's ancestors and other Radcliff lines to my database. George Hibben 75 Weston Road Lincoln, MA 01773 GHIBBEN@aol.com
