Seeeking information about the grave of Louisa (Greely) PAYNE b.1820 who died in South Ottawa sometime in the last half of the 1850's. I'm also looking for the death date of her husband Homer PAYNE b. 1820.
There are none listed in the 1860 census of LaSalle Co published by the LaSalle Co Genealogy Guild. On the 1870 there is a George CHALY, 48 M, PR, works on farm, listed in the Nicholas Hoffman household, Eden Twp, house 192-184. There is also a CHELLY family: John, 34 M SW farmer; Louisa 23 F HE keeping house and Julius 8/12 M IL (b. Sept.) in Town of Dimmick, PO Peru, house 151-149. In Vol 1 of 1880, there is a CHALLAH family from IR. Vol 2 has not been published yet. I don't know if any of this will help you. You didn't give me much info to look for. -----Original Message----- From: nothing <iblock4u@netins.net> To: ILLASALL-L@rootsweb.com <ILLASALL-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, 10 January, 1999 5:23 AM Subject: Re: [ILLASALL-L] RE: Chally Lookup >Forgot to mention I am looking for my CHALLY ancestors that resided in >LaSalle, Co., IL. > >---------- >> From: nothing <iblock4u@netins.net> >> To: ILLASALL-L@rootsweb.com >> Subject: [ILLASALL-L] RE: Chally Lookup >> Date: Saturday, January 10, 1998 7:18 AM >> >> I am looking for my CHALLY ancestors. Hi! Looking for Gottfried Hartfiel arrived in Peru, IL between March and June 1881 and worked for IL Zinc Co. in Peru, IL for some years. His dream was to have a farm outside of the city. He bought property in 1895 in Douglas Co. MN and moved there in 1898. Does anyone know something about the Zinc Co. of Peru, IL? Kay Diers Hamel, MN

For $10, the La Salle Co. Genealogy Guild will do a search for you. Their address is 115 W. Glover St., Ottawa, IL 61360. The marriage licenses at that time didn't have much genealogical data on them, just names and date and who married them. Mary, and Kate: I also have Riley ancestors (including a couple of Kates!) from LaSalle County. Kate or Catherine/Katherine Riley, also spelled O'Riley, daughter of James Riley and Sarah Dowling, married Matthew Reid in Ottawa 23 May 1871. Matthew died in 1878. They had 3 children, Annie, Thomas and Sarah (Sadie). On rare occasion this name shows up as Reilly. Any connection?
