    2. In a message dated 99-06-09 12:43:16 EDT, you write: << Hi Pat, In the 1865 Illinois census, there is an entry on p.251 in Peru for "Sisters of Charity". It shows 2 males under 10, 11 females under 10, 1 male 10-20, 1 female 20-30, and 1 female 60-70. I thought it might be an orphanage, but never looked for it in the U.S. census. Maybe someone can check it in a history of LaSalle Co. Lynn >> Dear Lynn, Thanks for the hint. I haven't been able to find Peru Township in the 1850 census (what a mess, it keeps jumping from one township or town then to another and then back), but there may be a second reel that was in use when I looked. I still haven't found anything to connect my Corrigan-Conelly with your Corrigan-Conelly, but I may go to Livingston and LaSalle Counties in September to check out records there. 3. I don't know, but you might try asking some of the churches in the area, or check with the Il historical society. I can occasionally get some of the older newspapers that are on line to respond to short questions or at least point me in the right direction. Ottawa had a newspaper I think since 1844. 3. I'm just starting out with info from Mom, & she doesn't know much. How can I find info about my great-grandmother, Mary W Altheide. All I know so far is that she was from Streator,IL and married my great-grandfather, David K Agnew. My Grandfather, David R Agnew, was born in 1898 in Erie, Pa, and attended military school in Quincy, Il. He spent summers in Streator with the Altheide family, who owned a clothing store. Sound familiar to anyone? Thanks, Barb

    3. > -----Original Message----- > >Looking for pictures / information about the Hagen Brothers Circus that > >appeared in Peru on May 21, 1957 > > > >Ron If you are looking specifically for information about the Hagen Bros. Circus itself, check with the Circus World Museum and Research Center in Baraboo Wisconsin. It is part of the Ringling Bros. Corporation but is a world renowned archive and research facility on ALL circuses. When I was there a few years ago researching the Al G. Barnes Circus from California, there were 3 Russians in there researching some European circuses. As an example, during the depression, my dad spent a month as a roustabout with the Al G Barnes Circus starting in Oakland CA and leaving in Seattle WA. He couldn't remember exactly when it was other than circa 1930. By going to the research center, we found the routes of the circus for each year in that time period. By matching the route to his recollections, we pinned it down to May 1 - June 1 of 1930. I was able to copy many pictures and articles available for that particular year including the circus program book. Coincidentally, the International Clown College was quartered there at the time we visited and the director of the research center introduced my dad in the center ring to the group as a fellow circus person from 60 years prior. I saw a tear in my dad's eye. It was great fun. Great collection of circus wagons from 1800-1900's, circus railroad cars and other circus memorabilia. ====================================================== William B.
