Bill: I, too, had McCloskey in LaSalle Cty but she (Mary) was married to John Graham. They married in Cty Sligo, Ireland (Scot-Irish they were). They emigrated in 1857 and went to Shoemaker, Pa until 1873 when they went to Streator, IL ("Where the Irish relatives were"). John and Mary died in Decatur, Mason Cty, IL. Their daughter, Annie b 1855 in Governshire Scotland (they emigrated from Scotland though born in Ireland) married my Ggrandfather in Lasalle Cty, IL. His name was Robert Garrett Ferriter/Farritor. Her sister, Alice, married a Costello. Dear Bill Brei: By chance did your McCloskeys originate or come through WV? Maureen Solomon
Looking for ROBINSON researcher who can help me connect this Benjamin ROBINSON with ROBINSON family in Hampshire Co., WV. Believe his kin sold land in Hampshire Co. (1895) to Streator local James Jones. Jones later forms a mining company and mines for silver and lead on this land. Ben ROBINSON died in Lasalle Co. 1877. TIA, Karen Nelson Hangsleben
I am tracing Julia DORGAN, wife of Dennis MANNING. Both are Irish immigrants from Cork County who took their family to IL about 1867. She died in Chicago, but they were La Salle County residents probably up to the time Dennis died (in Marsailles, La Salle). Bill Brei Researching Jenkins, Linn, Talty, Manning, Dorgan, Chittick, Rutledge, & McCloskey in IL wsbrei@mailexcite.com or breiw@hq.eucom.mil ____________________ On Mon, 12 Jul 1999 21:54:08 EDT, IAMPILOT@aol.com wrote: > Looking for anyone researching any DORGANs in LaSalle Co IL. > Vicki Reynolds Mazur > iampilot@aol.com > > > ==== ILLASALL Mailing List ==== > List problems? STOP folks, please! I did not say I knew anything about 1860 census. I was just trying to ID Pat for those who responded to her, hoping they might have more info on Pat Scott. I deeply apologize for misleading you. Search archives under "Charles Wilson" for January, 1999, and you will see the original discussion as well as the name and e-mail address for Jean Gobel who assisted Pat. Maybe she can help you. I am looking for Pat Scott of lower Michigan. She was seeking WILSONs and 1860LaSalle census lookup. I JUST discovered this sight, but now her e-mail address doesn't seem to be working! am looking for the name of the semi-pro baseball team that played it's home games in LaSalle in the early20's Ron
Hi List: If you have any information on the above names, please e-mail me. Some of you have already sent info, and I really appreciate it. Thanks. Dorothy Liebenguth Parrott
If most of your ancestors came from LaSalle County, I would go to the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild building in Ottawa. I am the corresponding secretary there. We have indexed the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses, we have the original probate from 1831 to 1922, We have the marriages on computer from 1831 to 1913 and then we can make a copy of the license for $.25 not $7 that the courthouse charges. We also have county histories, cemetery listings, obituaries, family records and church records. If your family was in LaSalle County for a time we should be able to help you. Hope to see you soon. In LaSalle County you may find the names of parents on the marriage license after 1877. They used a new form then and the names of parents and where born can be found if they filled out all of the information. If you are lucky it will be there.
