Two Francis Corrigan's and a couple others were identified. There were about 10 Corrigan's in the index. But, I got busy, and did not have time to check out the pages. What are the first names of the family that you are looking for? I have to go to the museum and the library tomorrow (Monday). 3. REF: ILLASALL-D Digest Volume 03 : Issue 49 > Follow-up to SharonCL message on 1930 census to Zack. If you're having trouble decoding the entry headings you might go to URL: <http://www.genealogy.com/00000061.html?Welcome=1051577940> which provides the 1930 format in a printable form for transcription. It also makes it easier to ask questions about entries by referring to row and column numbers. As a side note, for future census image recovery and source citation purposes, I've found it beneficial to provide the info in the heading of each census page. Hope this helps Vern D No connection to family. === message truncated === ________________ > ATTACHMENT part 7 message/rfc822 > Date: Sun, 27 Apr 2003 21:31:12 -0400 > From: "Hank L" <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: [ILLASALLE] reply to Redeen family with > Census > > Greetings Zack, > I have spent a few minutes and gather info > from the 1930 census about Charles A Redeen and his > family and learned how to read censuses and work > that imaging. 3. Greetings Zack, I have spent a few minutes and gather info from the 1930 census about Charles A Redeen and his family and learned how to read censuses and work that imaging. I just purchased Ancestry.com and trying to learn how to do this. Sorry I could not send a copy directly to year (I tried) but do have a hard copy if you send me your addressed stamped envelope. The family is more interested if it is one's own family: Redeen, Charles A--M--W--61--M--22--0--Y--Sweden-SWD-SWD-0-4-NO--Power Man--Railroads--Yes--No --F--W--52--M--17--0--Y--IL--------GM--GM---13--Y------------------- Charles Jr-----M--W--26-S--------0--Y--IL--------SW--SW----6---Y---Machinist--clock factory--Yes--No Helen-------F---W--17-S--------0--Y--IL--------SW--IL-----6---Y---Laborer--C lock Factory--N Ruth---dau-F---W--15-S---------0-Y--IL--------SW--IL-----6---Y-- Esther--dau-F--W---13-S--------0-Y--IL--------SW--IL-----13 Koplin, Ervis-stepsonM-W---25-S--------0-Y--WI------WI---IL------6--Y--Escaper--Cloc k Factory--yes--No Can you look at a 1930 Census to understand these codes? 1. [ILLASALLE] Thank you Joanie, re: MASKER, John
    2. Hi Joanie - I would like to thank you for the following. I was having delivery problems with the LaSalle list for a number of weeks and missed the reply you sent regarding my John MASKER. I just happened to be searching the archives today for some HOOTON information and stumbled across your reply to my message. I'm sorry that my thank you is so tardy! My LaSalle deliveries are still sketchy as I receive digests with replies without ever having gotten the original messages. Yes, John MASKER was related to the HOOTONs. John's second wife was Sarah Ellen HOOTON, daughter of James HOOTON and Esther CARROLL. William HOOTON was Sarah Ellen's brother. There were several other children as well, including one named Thomas who is probably buried somewhere nearby. I believe he died about 1903. You also may have answered another question for me. There were two other MASKERs in the area that I guessed were probably John's children from his first marriage. One of these is also buried in Riverview/Riverside. Both are found in the local city directories in the 1890s to early 1900s. Thanks again. It gives me alot to go on. :-) Shelly Date: Fri, 21 Feb 2003 13:12:25 -0600 From: Joan <A HREF="mailto:[email protected]"> To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [ILLASALLE] John Masker - Inquest Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit ...from Streator Daily Free Press Tuesday, May 4, 1896 ---Coroner Blanchard, of Marseilles, in the absence of his deputy, U. 3. Joan, You have been most helpful in finding my Ward and Patton obits. I want to thank you very much. I am wondering if you could help me with another ancestor. I am looking for a date of death for Margaret Ward nee Thomas. Her husband died in 1923 and she is listed as a survivor. Is there an index of obits at the library to see if you can find a Margaret Ward who died after 1923. Her husband is buried at Riverview but there is no record of burial for her. 2. I have Drummond on the Union Pacific railroad in Will County but find no cemeteries of that name in Illinois. Searching the U.S. Gealolgic Survey I find only one Del Norte Cemetery as follows: Feature Name: Del Norte Cemetery Feature Type: cemetery State: Colorado County: Rio Grande Location: 373926N 1062134W Jerry Hale Deltona, FL On Fri, 18 Apr 2003 08:59:06 -0500 "Pam Higgins" <[email protected]> writes: > Anyone know who might have the cemetery records of Del Norte cemetery > in LaSalle co Ill ? 3. Annie Wolfe must have lived in Cumberland Allegany Co., MD while my James and Sarah Withington NELSON lived there. I would say from the tone of her letter that she was about Sarah's age b.1845. Sarah was born in Clear Spring MD and married James Nelson in Martinsburg, WV. James was a RR engineer. The Cumberland area was coal mining country. I know of course that Streator was too. The Nelsons' left Cumberland about 1880 and were in the Streator area by 1889 with a brief stopover in IN. James Nelson went to the so. west as a paid mining Eng. for a Streator Mining company (Gold/Silver). He also went back to the Cumberland area to mine silver . the owner of this mining operation was an Uncle Jimmy Jones from Streator - had lived in the Cumberland area too. This Jimmy Jones also was connected to a McAllister family in Streator. Perhaps my grandparents knew the Wolfe's in Streator and liked the name WELLINGTON therefore. Might Susan have been Susan Ann? I asked about the Wolf(e) family before and did get some local response - there's a connection with a Hillier (sp) family too.(Hillyard) Hillier was an investor of Uncle Jimmy Jones too. I've always thought it odd that my dad never asked about his name. Of course up until the time I transcribed my mother's memoirs, I didn't know that my Karen Ann was specially for my grandma Anna Julia. How I wish some of these good folks were around to ask. Karen James - Sarah Withington Nelson Frank William and Anna Julia Hasenkamper Nelson Frank Wellington Nelson (1919-1982)
