2. Hi Alan - Go to www.familysearch.org and use the search tab at the top of the page. Click on the Census search on the left side and designate that you'd like to search the US 1880 census. In Wallace, LaSalle County I found the following on page 751C: William Dwyer, head, 38, Ire, Ire, Ire Annora Dwyer, wife, 37, Ire, Ire, Ire Pattrick Dwyer, son, 6, IL, Ire, Ire Michael Dwyer, son, 3, IL, Ire, Ire John Dwyer, 1, son, IL, Ire, Ire Mary Dwyer, mother, 65, Ire, Ire, Ire Charles Hart, other, 15, IL, Ire, Ire. (Oh lucky you! You got a bonus mom in there!!!) You may want to check the actual census page to confirm this info as I've found some transcription problems here and there. I also think that I located them in 1870, still in Wallace, M593_244, p. 768a. Dwyre, Wm, 28, farmer, Ireland, both parents foreign born ---------, Nora, 27, keeping house, Ireland, both parents foreign born Hope this helps. 1. [ILLASALLE] M. P. Breen
2. Joan
3. notes from Streator Daily Times-Press, Saturday, December 24, 1938 Former manager of Heenan store..died at 12:30 a.m. today at his home, 410 River avenue ..survived by his widow, formerly Mary Savage, to whom he was married in Streator Dec. 28, 1918, and two children, Helen and Mary Breen. One sister, Mary McCloskey, of this city also survives. .... Mr. Breen was born May 2, 1871 near Pittsburgh, Pa., coming to Streator with his parents in 1873, where he spent practically his entire life. ...graduate of Northwestern University, admitted to the bar in 1893. ..practiced law in Chicago until 1914, when he returned to Streator to take over the management of the Heenan store. The body will repose at Howland Chapel..services will be held Tuesday morning. (Clara's children were only 12 and 13 when their father died, too young to run the store.) There might be a notice of services, but that usually just lists pallbearers and people who came from out of town. If you want a copy of this obituary and the services, let me know, and I can get a copy and leave it at Streator's museum. The library charges $1.00 per page for microfilm copies. So, the cost will be $2.00 for obituary and services notice, plus postage. [email protected] wrote: > > Hi all, I am interested in locating an obit notice for my gr-gr grandfather, > Thomas > Breen. 3. Sorry, I only have the obituaries for his wife, Mary Purcell-Breen and two of the other children: Thomas and Clara. Since Thomas was a coal miner, the obituary might be very short. Clara had not yet married Daniel Heenan. The library is closed this afternoon (Saturday). Monday I have P.T., I should be able to get there on Tuesday. Don't understand why I don't have Thomas' obituary. May I ask who are your grandparents? Thomas and Beatrice Murphy-Breen? That was so sad, their dying only a few months apart.
