Hello all Lake County researchers. Recently I sent for some archived papers regarding the property Matthew Palmer owned in Waukegan. No actual street address is given. The property is described as follows. Quote: Lots 10 and 11, Block 7. In McKays second addition to the town of Little Fort, now the city of Waukegan. Between 1865 and 1869 many repairs were done to the property. There is a list of names of who worked on the property and the supplies used. E.G. 10 May 1865 Mr. J. Brown supplied lumber posts costing $49. 15. " " " Mr. B. Dodge supplied hinges costing $ 8. 25. Does anyone know where I can find an old map giving the location of the property? Also would anyone be interested in a list of the names of the men who were in business in Waukegan during these years? I am willing to type in the whole list if anyone is at all interested. Happy Hunting, Jean Palmer in Victoria, B.C. Canada.
Jean, I would be interested to know if my great grandfather, living in Waukegan in those years, is on that list of businesses. He was a carpenter and his name was Frederick Clare Davis. If you could check, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Donna Davis Dixon [email protected]
