Hi Roger and Susan, We are cousins, for sure. I belong to the Gleasons from Sulgrave, 14th generation. Amasa is my great-great-great grandfather, him having Hiram, then John Gleason, both buried in Libertyville, Il. So, happy to meet you....this internet is such a great tool! Been researching, I believe, since 1997. If you don't know already, Aaron Gleason and Eunice Kenney, Eunice in particular, goes back to Rebecca Towne Nurse, hung during the Salem Witch Trials, on 19 Jul 1692. She was my 9th great grandmother and possibly your 9th as well. Just stuff I have researched over the years. My John Gleason, who married Frances Helen Myrick, was in the 17th Cav during the Civil War. I have some of his papers(copies). John was born in Oswego, NY. Anyway, I'm glad you wrote. It is so nice to find cousins. Sincerely, Jim Erbe, Fresno, Ca
Jim, I think we have met so to speak---been in contact with AL and have posted on Terri's site--haven't been there recently as I just haven't had the time. Correct me if I am wrong. Still working on stuff I got in Massachuttes this summer. For Christmas my kids gave me the White book--so am in 7th heaven so to speak trying to connect all the dots. Did you see the blurb on TV about the cemetery that Dr. Pepper used to hide the treasure medallion. It's right off the Boston Commons and best I have figured, an infant David Gleason is buried there, right amongst the Great patriots of the Revolution Era. He is also noted as being the first child to have angles carved on tomb and not the usual skelton/crossbones. I haven't quite figured out exactly who he belongs to. Had to straddle Paul Revere's grave to try and read and look at his. In MA, you aren't suppose to touch the stones anymore. Found out that if you take a digital pic and then blow it up on computer it becomes more readable than you can see with naked eye. Took a little tour to Framingham and visited Gleason's pond and also a library in a little town where Thomas moved and was one of the founding fathers so to speak. Pic of church is posted on Terri's site. Al did it for me. Hoping to get to Lake Cnt;y this next summer and tour several other places in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
