Hi Jim, . . . .and another cousin (wayyyy distant) heard from! My name is Lynn Hohler and I'm researching the Chittenden family of Avon Centre and Gurnee. My ggggrandfather John Chittenden married Sarah Esty, daughter of Moses. Sarah was a many times greatgranddaughter of Mary Esty, spelled Easty in the old papers, who was the sister of Rebecca Nurse!
Hi Lynn, I have read some on Mary Easty and the trials in Salem. Mary really tried to have the judges, especially Judge John Hathorne (I think the great-great grandfather or thereabouts to Nathaniel Hawthorne..Nathaniel added the "w" to his name) in April 1692 to re-think the accusations by the girls. She was released on May 18 only to be accussed by Mercy Lewis of torment. So Mary was back in jail in irons and hanged on Sept 22, 1692. This is taken from a biography written by Anne Austin. So guess, as you say, another cousin is found! Look at the history one can find via the internet. It all started with 2 notecards my mother wrote names of ancestors on..don't know where or how she got them. This was way before I started my searching. They had the Reilly, Gleason, Myrick names being listed in Illinois. Also some Myricks in Maine. With the internet (around 1998), I started my search on Ancestry and later on LDS. So much fun! Jim
