    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Rager Deason Boyd Comstock Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Sg.2ADI/1097.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: The William J Boyd family was living in Oak Park, IL. In 1930, they were on Elmwood Avenue, house number 123, which they owned. This is the 1930 Illinois census, Cook county, Oak Park, District 2265 page 7 of 40. Carl and Virginia had been married about a year and he was unemployed at the time. The Boyd family is also present on the 1920 and 1910 census for Cook County. Gordon Boyd was my grandfather. My uncle may have some more information about William J Boyd and Jean Genevra Stoner. He had some interesting tidbits about the family the last time I spoke with him on this topic some years ago. I used to visit Virginia (we called her Aunt Vee) when she was living with her sisters Olive (Aunt Babe) and Wilda. We used to play gin rummy around the kitchen table. They always used to give me 7-up in a coca cola glass with a maraschino cherry. :) Aunt Babe would make flannel nightgowns for me. My grandmother used to take me to visit the aunts even though she had been divorced from Gordon for quite a while at that point. They had a very friendly relationship. Aunt Vee and Aunt Wilda were both thin, and Aunt Babe was heavier. They lived on the lowest level of an orangeish brick apartment building when I visited them. Aunt Babe was an artist, I have one of her sketchbooks. Gordon was an oil painter, I have several of his paintings. I would love to get more information about their families--I have only very sketchy information about the 'cousins' as my mother and uncle called them. I will be trying to pick my uncle's brains about the more distant generations as well.

So he could not have been the parents of your Edward. Perhaps he is a cousin to your Smith family. I found where Jane and her parents were born in England from LDS website. I got lucky! Jane Walton Smith is my GGGAunt. I just started to search her line in hopes to find living cousins in the Lake county area. Since you mentioned that you have run across this line before, do you have any information on them? Pam

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: SMITH, CHAPMAN, HOLDEN, HAYS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Sg.2ADI/1832.4.1 Message Board Post: I have seen this family before, but I have nothing in my research tying them to my family. Perhaps they are the next generation for me to find, if I had anything linking them to us! The oldest couple I have coming from England, and this is my "road-block" is Edward SMITH who came to America from England in 1803 with his wife Catherine CHAPMAN. He was born about 1756 in England and died February 24, 1813 in Butternuts, NY. She was born about 1761 in England and died May 27, 1818 in Butternuts, NY. They were married in England June 12, 1783. So they were married 20 years before coming here, and he died only 10 years after being here! They had 7 children, I'm guessing were all born in England: Thomas, John, Samuel, Joseph, Mariah, Ann and Elizabeth. Edward and Catherine are my 5th great grand parents. So since I know nothing past Edward, anythig past them will be my next big step! Maybe have to ask someone in England to help me out. I don't have any idea what part of England they left from!
