That is were the Lake County Gen. Soc is located. They have books of all the cemeteries in Lake county transcribed. Also you can check with the Waukegan Public Library. They might have some local information for you. In Illinois they did not require birth, deaths to be required till 1916. Before then it was a hit and a miss. I would suggest to contact them. Perhaps they can help find or suggest a chuch to contact for death records. I think she might be at the union cemetery in Waukegan. For on line research : The state has a State Archives web site that lists marriage records up to 1900. Here is the link to the website. http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/databases.html Here is the address for the Fremont Library. 1170 N. Midlothian Road. Phone 1.847.566.8702 Lake county Gen - 1.847.918.3208 If you need any more suggestion on where to search in Lake county let me know. I have been searching my Lake county roots for several years. To order the Marriage Certificate for the couple from Waukegan, you can go to this website; http://www.co.lake.il.us/cntyclk/vital/marriagerecords.asp and it will give you directions on how to mail a request. It only costs $4 if you ask for a genealogical copy. I have no exact answer as to how to even begin searching for any kind of a death record for Grace. That is just so old. All of my searches in Illinois have been post-1880. The only ideas I have is to visit this web site; http://www.rootsweb.com/~illcgs/ . It's the Lake County Genealogical Society's site. There's a link to ask for help. Another Site is the Newberry Library at; http://www.newberry.org/genealogy/lake.html . Sorry I couldn't help more. Good Luck & SISU! Do you think it is possible I can find copy of death record for GRACE(FERRELL)MONTGOMERY from 1839 and/or her place of burial, or copy of marriage record for WILLIAM and BETSY MONTGOMERY from 1846? I will list both of them and let you make the final decision as to which, or maybe even if both are yours. Personally, I'd be interested in seeing both to see if there's a story to be learned. I didn't see another couple with the same names in the 1850 census in Illinois. The one for Cook County may just be some sort of duplication. 2. Thank you. I tried to find Ela using MapQuest but no luck. I notice the post office in the census is Long Grove, so maybe that's my best bet for finding it. My grandmother was Julia Heckenschweiler and she came over here from Alsace Lorraine in 1902 to be with relatives in the Chicago area. Her mother's maiden name was Issler. I find Hecketsweilers and Isslers living very close in Ela and, although the spelling is different, I suspect these are the families for which I'm searching. Is anyone on this list working those names? I'm also wondering if the Isslers, Eisslers, Eislers, Ysslers, etc. were all connected.
