I'm trying to learn more about the Knopf Cemetery. I could very well have relatives buried there. - Mary http://public.surfree.com/mfuller/family.htm
Hi Carol, Thank you so much for taking the time to look up this information. It is most helpful since I have been stymied looking for information on the Vandermarks in NY. I will be able to order a death certificate from MN for Martha Caroline Vandermark Parker, which I think will provide the final piece of the puzzle. It seems quite possible that the two "M. C." Vandermark sisters were twins. My grandmother, who provided me with what info. I began with, was a twin. She never mentioned any other twins in her families, so I have been surprised to find two sets and possibly a third, all of them generationally-close to my grandmother and her twin sister. I really appreciate your generous help! Hi listers, I am researching the Vandemark/Vandermark family, who were early settlers of Avon Township. Seeking to determine: Were Caroline and Maria C. Vandemark twin sisters? What I know about them: Caroline married Levi Parker 9/21/1845 and Maria C. married James J. Parker 4/14/1847, both in Lake County, IL. 1850 IL census shows Levi Parker living with Martha C., but I believe that Martha C. is Caroline. Maria C. and Martha C. are both listed as age 24 on the 1850 IL census. Both were born in NY, but I can't find birth or baptismal records. Martha's grave stone in MN indicates that she was born in 1825. I have not located Maria's grave, but I suspect that she may have died in Lake County since a James J. Parker married Sarah A. Simonds 4/18/1855 in Lake County. Does anyone have access to a Lake County 1860 census? I am interested in a listing for James J. Parker (and for Caleb Colegrove who married another sister, Rachel Vandemark). Can anyone help me determine whether Maria C. died in Lake County and whether a cemetery record exists? Since I am unable to find birth records, I figure that census and cemetery records will help in determining whether Maria C. and Martha C. Vandermark were twins. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Christine

Hi Ray, I would really appreciate the piece about the installing of offices. Yes, the Koller's were old time settlers in the area. Charles KOLLER m. Caroline JOHNSON on April 12, 1888 Herman "Joseph" KOLLER m. Mary SASCH on April 28, 1881 My two main lines are SASCH and JOHNSON. The SASCH name has been in Highland Park area since about 1864. This was when Nicholas SASCH joined up to serve in the Civil war according to the book of Highland Park. I've never been able to find him listed on any rosters though! The Sasch name has pretty much died out now. I haven't found much info on the name, which is really unfortunate. The earliest I can find the JOHNSON line there is 1880 from the census. I know Anna JOHNSON was listed as a widow on the 1900 census for Highland Park, but I've been unable to locate her exact date of death! I'm pretty sure her husband died just a couple of years before her. She wouldn't have lived much past 1900. I received the death info from Rock Island Illinois, the headquarters of the Modern Woodmen of America. The marriage info I have from their marriage licences. -Brenda G. P.S. I've just completed an exhaustive review and update of the Lake County Illinois Genealogical Website at http://www.rootsweb.com/~illcgs/index.htm Let me know if you have any problems. Carol - The WordPerfect file you gave me for the fall conference included some garbage characters - did you have graphics in it? Take a look at what I posted and see if everything's there. Also, take a look at http://www.rootsweb.com/~illcgs/regform2000.htm. What needs to change? ___________________ Sarah A. V. Sorry, our first web administrator was unable to continue due to personal reasons. The second took the job, lost her regular job due to corporate sale to another company, and has been getting that straightened out. Bear with us and we'll be better than ever. [email protected]
Good Morning, I have been looking on the internet but cannot locate where Glen Oaks Cemetery is located can anyone help? [email protected]
Hi everyone, I was wondering what's going on with the Lake County site? I've noticed that there has been no work done on it for a very long time. Any idea? -Brenda G.
Hi Ray, Thomas isn't part of the branch of the Koller's that I'm researching, although it may be of some help, I don't really know. Charles Koller didn't have a son named Thomas. I don't know how a person looks up such an old obituary if it isn't indexed. Probably just by going through the old papers I guess. -Brenda ----- Original Message ----- From: Raymond McCraren <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 11, 2001 10:49 PM Subject: [[ILLAKE]: ] Re: [[ILLAKE]: ] obituary lookup > Hi I am RAY I live 14 miles from H P . I would sure appreciate it. This fellow was married to my g.grandfather's sister. I have photo's of his children and himself but I want to be absolutely sure it is Charles. I'm hoping his obituary mentions his wife's and children's names. This is the only way I can possitively identify these unknown old photo's. Researching: Sasch, McCanney, Koller, Johnson. I have family in Lake Co., IL and will see if they are able to access this information for you.
Out of desperation I will try this one more time.... Is there anyone willing to request a photocopy of an obitary for me? My local one room library will not request. It would probaby be found in the Highland Park News or Press. CHARLES KOLLER b. July 1864 d. May 7 1899 Thank you so much. Brenda Manitoba, Canada [email protected]

George Fish may have also been Methodist. Later in his life he became a Wesleyan Methodist minister. I believe he started out around Half Day, Vernon Township,. Does anyone know where records for the Methodist chuch would be (if surviving)? At 05:29 PM 05/02/2001 -0500, you wrote: >My ancestors were also married by Samuel Hurlbutt. Anthony D.
