Yes, Justin is in the Loomis genealogy...I have the pages copied and in my Loomis file for some reason. One thing tho, Justin was born in 1785 not 1985! Don't want everyone to start wondering! LOL R
Hi, Yes we did correspond before. Still haven't come up with any new info on Adrian and his family. I still hope to tho! If you do run into anything that might be useful, I'd be grateful! Good luck on the searching! Robin

Hello. Thank you for your message. Charles Whitehead and Susannah Palmer were married in London, England in 1853. Both had been born in the village of Easton, Northamptonshire, England. They sailed off to America the day following their wedding. They settled in Avon, Lake Co. Illinois where Charles became a farmer. They had 5 daughters. Mary born 1855 married William Wilson Sarah born 1857 married John J. Longabaugh (Their son Charles became an artist) Susannah born 1859 never married. Emma born 1865 married Hobart James Esty Ellen bon 1865 married Fred H. Kuebker. The last two girls were twins. Sarah lived to be over 100 years old. There may have been other Whitehead family members who had emigrated besides Charles. I only started to research the family this year so I don't have all that much information to work with at the moment. Happy Hunting, Jean in Victoria, B.C. Dear Nancy, I, too, am frustrated with the Lake County information available before the turn of the century (1848-1906). I have found my family (STAFFORD) in the census but cannot find Oakwood-Waukegan cemetery records. Or BMD before the one 1906 d. record I have. Do you know about this Oakwood? Do you know of sources other than courthosue for BMD? Have you run across peripheral relatives' names MILLEN or TRATT? Where is Wauconda? Thank you. Do you know if your Whiteheads are related to Gertrude Mary May Harrison Schroeder whose mother was Mary Ann Whitehead Harrison. Gertrude was born in The Holy Trinity, Coventry, County of Warwick, 10-12-1886 and lived in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Justin Loomis appears in "The Loomis Family in America" as descendant of Joseph Loomis # 988 born March 2, 1985. His descendants are listed as #s 2525-2530, their descendants are #5571-5584 and the last mentioned descendant is # 9485.
Hi Robin, We corresponded a bit a while back. I am going to try to look at the cemeteries in Wauconda area again. I have wandered around some, but there is never anyone there to ask and never seem to catch the historical society when it is open. But, I am going to give it another try. I also plan to look newspapers of the time for Wauconda. Does anyone know if the Wauconda Historical Society has any regular hours? Does anyone know if they or some other source has copies of the Independent Register from the turn of the century and before, or other newspapers that covered Lake County for that time? Thanks, Nancy Loomis Schroeder
Initially naturalization could be done at any Court, mostly it was at County Courts. Federal Courts began doing it in 1872, but they were usually too far away and most people continued to go to County Courts (until 1906). NARA holds only the Federal Records. The State Archives normally hold the County Records, except I was told they don't have Lake Countys old records. I just thought maybe somebody had done this before. I will keep trying and let you know. Read this web page and it might explain why you are finding no records. There was no INS before 1906. http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/aboutins/history/NatzRec/NATREC.htm If that doesn't help, maybe you can get the same information you are looking for through Alien Registrations at this address. If they were still alive between 1940-1944. http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/aboutins/history/NatzRec/NATREC.htm Otherwise, I don't know where else you can try.
